The grocery store it self is always clean well stocked and easy to get in get out. But the meat department is where I draw the line! It’s hard on this area to find good meat deals especially fish! My husband, my daughter, and I went to purchase fresh fish in the meat department. The attendant BO or BQ couldn’t quite read his name tag. Was standing talk to a another attendant in a blue shirt. And a woman with long blonde hair. And BO or BQ was eating a candy bar or some type of bar while we stood waiting. Once he realized we were watching him he came over asked us if we wanted something and then we told him we wanted 2 fillets and 2 pounds catfish nuggets he repeated what we said set his candy bar down walked over got a black styrofoam container and without washing his hands or putting gloves on he reached in with bare hands unclean and grabbed our raw fish placed it in the containers. I’m disappointed by this. I went to the assistant manager Steve and discussed the situation with him and he had No idea how to handle this situation. So, he took the fish in the containers back to the meat department as we were walking out. This is unacceptable! Food borne pathogens are now contaminating every piece of meat in that department! Hope this helps someone who gets food poisoning. Hope you sue! Will not ever shop for meat in this...
Read moreMy second trip to this store. It was clean, employees restocking pleasant. However the experience at registers was very upsetting. They have self checkout registers. Thinking it's like Wal-Mart I begin to scan. Granted I am old but I'm not deaf or blind. An employee said very loudly, nearly a scream that I could not check out there. I looked at her quizically and then she informed me loudly 25 items or less only. I look around for a sign because I follow rules and directions and was upset at her agressive behavior. She pointed to a sign that was not visible as you approach the registers. As she practically pushed me aside to clear off the one item I scanned I said that sign is not visible. She said in a tone best described as arrogant that it is visible. I was not expecting that an exception be made for me but a little courtesy goes a long way in customer service. Then at the register with a clerk my husband nor I was greeted. She was frowning and was unnessarily rough with the groceries. She put a head of cabbage on top of a bag of lettuce! She scanned my eggs but then neglected to bag it and give to us. So I stood there and said, excuse me, I would like my eggs please. Don't know if I...
Read moreVery soon we will have lived in Duncan for two months. We moved here from Norman specifically to get away from the overwhelming commercial atmosphere and the high dollar stakes politics. I shopped at home land in Norman. Choosing to shop at Homeland in Duncan was not hard.
I think I've been there three or four times now, and people are already starting to remember my face. It's probably my crazy hair they remember, but the last time I was in a couple of the staff smiled and nodded at me, as though they recognized me. It reminded me of the Homeland I shopped at in Norman for 40 years. It wasn't always Homeland, but it was always the same people and the same store. My hope was that my experience there would be echoed here in Duncan. I was right. It's the same atmosphere, everyone is friendly, helpful, and willing to go out of their way to help a stranger. I'm grateful to find a market where I feel comfortable, that carries brands that I am familiar with and trust, and offers superb customer service. Sure, it probably is a little bit more expensive than Walmart, but my mental health is worth it! Thank you employees of Homeland in Duncan Oklahoma! I...
