I usually go to small, independent techs for my lash and nail services because the quality is much better, but this day it was a last minute decision and I was desperate to get my lashes and nails removed. Everyone here was friendly, but unfortunately, the quality matched the low price.
The man who removed my nails took off all the acrylic, but then kept filing down my natural nails unnecessarily (see photos 1, 2, & 3). I also noticed that he used the same e-file with the same nail bit from his last client. Iām not sure if it was sanitized/disinfected but I wouldnāt be surprised if it wasnāt. The woman who removed my lashes was roughāshe scrubbed the remover so aggressively that it kept getting into my eyes, burning them. After she finished, she told me to rinse, but I noticed about 12 lashes still left on one eye. When I pointed it out, she repeated the process, burning my eyes again. It was clear she was rushing, as she was also working on another client. Even after the second attempt, I still had two lashes left (photos 4 & 5), but I didnāt want to go through the burning again, so I left them to remove at home.
Since I was already there, I decided to get a pedicure for some callus on my heel. The pedicure itself felt nice, but the main reason I wanted itāto remove the callusāwasnāt addressed. I left with the callus still there (last photo, photo 6).
While I technically got the services I came for, even though the quality was poor, I appreciate how friendly the staff was and them taking me right away as a walk-in. However, I know what good service is supposed to look like so I wonāt be returning to this establishment. Iāll be sticking to my usual independent techs for better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreModern Nails I will never ever step foot back into this establishment. I went to get a routine fill-in walked out feeling like my nails went through surgery. My cuticles were bleeding from the electric tool that the nail tech used and my nails were hurting afterwards. Not only that but 3 days later my nails started to split in the middle ( which is very painful)and 3 of them came off while I was doing my hair. I went in today Monday January 17th just to receive poor service with nasty attitudes (from the older lady that sits at station 1)and no apologies for the damages of my nails. The lady at station 1 says have a seat and has me to soak my damaged nails, she then tells me āafter you soak your nails hereās a paper towel for you to wipe the polish off.ā That caught me off guard because Iām not employed at Modern Nails and no professional nail technician has ever asked me to service myself. While Iām soaking my nails the guy at station 4 says āGet up and come sit hereā he then proceeds to tell me he has to charge me for a service that I paid for 3 days ago⦠I have been coming to Modern Nails for over 9 years and should have stopped coming to this disrespectful establishment back in 2018 when the professional service started to decline. Iāve watched the nail techs treat their customers differently if they didnāt know who you were.. Not Once have they ever offered me a bottle of water or soda but Iāve watch them offer older customer the world⦠Modern Nails you really need to hire some professional nail...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall, below average pedicure and below average manicure. Please go elsewhere! I have had plenty over manicures and pedicures but Modern Nails is not worth your time and money.
Monday morning, July 22nd, my mother and I went for a pedicure and a manicure each. We choose a basic pedicure and basic manicure, each. At check out I was charged an additional $20 and my mother was charged an additional $15. The additional charge was for the nail polish. What the hell! We got a explanation about the additional costs that the nail polish had a separate charge. The communication was challenging because of a language barrier; I can communicate in English (not dwelling on the language issue though). The point though is notify the client BEFOREHAND about additional costs.
We went back to Modern Nails the following day because my mothers nail polish was pretty much gone. I was initially not going to bother, but felt bad for my mother. When we got to Modern Nails, we were told that her nails could be "fixed" for an additional $20. In the end it was fixed for free ... yay we saved $15 or $20.
After spending $168,10 at Modern Nails, we went elsewhere for another pedicure and manicure a couple of days later & are super happy.
Definitely not worth the trouble to go to...
