Tonight was the last time I will be ordering from Mi Cancun. I have had a problem with my order every time I have ordered from this restaurant. They will nickel and dime and charge extra for every small addition to your food (a “small side” of guacamole was the size of a small appetizer and cost me $7; you have to pay $2.50 for chips AND salsa if you want extra chips). Don’t be fooled by the wonderful seasoning that they use, the overall quality of the food they put out is poor. I tolerated these issues until tonight, when the following occurred:
I had a simple order, the directions were clear and listed on the kitchen receipt: no refried beans, corn tortillas. When I picked up my order, I had double refried beans and flour tortillas. I didn’t realize until I drove the 15 minutes home. When I went back, the manager tried to give me a free chips and dip or drink while they remain it, or even a credit for future visit, but I held my ground and asked for a refund for that part of my meal, which he gave me. I was willing to let the whole incident go because of that, but as I was halfway through eating my tacos at home, I realized they were too full. I inspected them more closely, and based on the toppings, they had taken everything out of the flour tortillas, put it into corn tortillas, and added more fresh toppings to disguise the fact that they didn’t use fresh ingredients. Not only did this mean my tacos were cold after a total of 45 minutes since I’d originally picked them up, but I am also intolerant of wheat and informed the manager at the restaurant that I could not eat the food because it had been on flour tortillas. The carelessness and laziness has been evident since the first time I ordered from there, but I will not be ordering again after this incident.
If you loved El Rodeo, steer clear of Mi Cancun. If anyone knows where El Rodeo’s staff went after the transition, I would love to go and...
Read moreLet's face it, there are many Mexican restaurants in this area to choose from. Some are known more for their atmosphere, such as LA Buena Vida in Raleigh, while others are known more for great food such as carjillo's in Garner. I gotta say I wasn't that impressed. The drink I had which was the lady di It tasted good. Was it extraordinary? No, had enough liquor but just okay. For the food I had the chimichanga, which I asked the waiter to get me a beef and a chicken and both of them were chicken. It took quite a while for anyone to approach me at the table. To even take my order. I wasn't expecting an over the top experience because it's not that type of restaurant but to me, everything here was kind of just mediocre and there are far better places in this area to go if you want great Mexican food not to mention. There are actually taco trucks that have a far better experience than this particular restaurant. I know this restaurant used to be El.Rodeo and I and I thought I would give it a try since it's now that it is a different restaurant all in all, it wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. But there are better in the...
Read moreThis is our first time trying this place after the restaurant swapped from El Rodeo to mi Cancun. There’s things I liked and disliked during our experience. Upon entering the restaurant there was a strong scent of artificial air freshener which I don’t particularly like when eating food, although I did eventually go nose blind to it after a while. The chips are seasoned with something like Tajin (I think) which are good on their own but I didn’t particularly enjoy with cheese dip or eating with my meal as it came off too salty mixed with other salt-forward food. The salsa is chipotle-forward which I don’t prefer as I like a lighter fresh tasting salsa. I ordered ACP as a baseline since it’s so simple. The chicken was tender, I liked that it came with poblanos and onions as well as tortillas which isn’t usually the case. The cheese dip was a little bit spicier than other restaurants which I really enjoyed. Normally I’d dip my chips into ACP but as mentioned previously, that made everything too salty so I stuck with tortillas. Overall it was simply fine but I wouldn’t go out of my...
