Batteries Plus — Local services in East Hempfield Township

This review is regarding the phone repair portion of the business.

I recently cracked the back screen of my iPhone 8 and set up an appointment to have it replaced. After the initial replacement I noticed the upper volume button had stopped working. I took it back to the store and was told there was a gasket missing from the replacement part. They were happy to attempt to correct the problem by using an adhesive but, unfortunately, the next day both the upper and lower volume buttons were now completely stuck and unusable, so I asked for the entire part to be replaced again. They were agreeable and ordered the part and replaced it for no charge. As of now it seems to be working fine, although the front glass does shift back and forth slightly and does not feel like it fits snugly with the replacement back glass.

Had this been the only negative experience I likely would plan on giving them another shot but, unfortunately, I had a similar experience a couple years ago when I went to get the front glass replaced on my iPhone. After the repair I noticed that I couldn't hear anyone on the other end of a phone call. I took it back in and they said the ear piece had not been reconnected properly and they fixed it for no charge.

After two botched repairs, and several trips to and from the store, it is becoming apparent that there is a lack of consistency and quality in their repair division. Fool me twice shame on me, I suppose.

Please note that I have nothing negative to say about the employees or retail portion of the business. Everyone has always been helpful and accommodating and quick to correct any issues, which I appreciate. The problem is that I've now had back to back negative experiences with repairs so I felt that I should urge prospective customers to proceed with caution. Justin, Ed, and Madock were so kind, helpful, and genuinely awesome. I had to write a review to appreciate them, their help, and the overwhelmingly good experience I had getting a battery and bulbs for my Honda Fit. Honda was attempting to charge me $218 to purchase a battery ($135), and install it ($83). I called Batteries Plus Bulbs, and Ed told me he could get me a batters for 199.99, and the install would be free. He said, if I came in today, he could provide me a 10% discount. When I got there, everyone in the store greeted me kindly, and they got right to work on putting in my battery. Upon noticing one of my headlights was out, they showed me the bulbs I would need, and said they could also install those for free. The bulbs were 34.99. Justin and Madock took turns working on my car, and were both capable, and conversational. Then, when I checked out, they had light bulbs, which I also needed. My final price was around $160, with a battery, new bulbs, and installation for my fit, and the light bulbs I needed for my dining room, and the cost was roughly $58 cheaper than just the battery and installation at Honda. I have had cause to frequent Batteries Plus on several occasions, the first being when my key fob for my Honda cracked and fell apart. I had been told by the dealer that a new key fob would run around $150-$225 depending on if they needed to reprogram it or not. Batteries Plus was able to order the exact one I needed, switch out something from the inside of the old one, program it to my vehicle and even checked to make sure everything was working properly including unlocking the trunk and doors. It cost me only $89, and the service was superb! On another occasion, I was able to purchase a replacement battery for a toy that was nearly 20 years old and at a very reasonable price. Whenever I go there, the staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. I never have to comb through products, I just show them what I need & they can help. Most recently, I took an old watch in for a battery. They offered a program for less than $20 that provides replacement batteries for the life of the watch AND they do the work of taking it apart and putting in the new one! They also do things like phone screen repairs. I have never been disappointed with their products or services, and their staff is top notch.
