Davidson Jewelers — Local services in East Moline

Update: I did receive my old setting in the mail today and I appreciate that Davidsons did what they said they would. I also received a note of apology. I do think they are reputable jewelers but this time it was not a smooth process. I have upped my rating a little bit from 1 star to 3.

Original Post: I am extremely unhappy with my latest encounter at Davidsons. I asked for my diamond earrings to be changed from a white gold setting to yellow gold. I told the person helping me that I wanted my old setting back when all was completed. The new setting needed to be ordered and was told it would be done by a certain date. It wasn't. When my order was completed, my husband picked it up. The old setting wasnt mentioned so my husband asked about it. The man who waited on him said he would be willing to give a $10 credit for those. My husband said no, we wanted the setting. The man went in the back and came back with one. He then said the other one fell in the machine. Apparently the machine has to be taken apart to get it out and Davidsons didnt feel it was important enough to have it ready to return to me. They ended by saying they will mail it to me. We will see if they do. Numerous family members, my husband, and myself have patronized this store for a long while and always been happy. Not this time and...

I brought my ring in to be resized and the turnaround was very quick and the fit is great. However, my stone was completely loose after the resizing. I brought it back in and they tightened the prongs, but the stone was STILL loose. I then came in again to talk directly with the goldsmith and he explained that he couldn't tighten the prongs the traditional way and had to put metal underneath. Turns out he used solder instead of white gold and the prong was an absolute mess. I also was asked if I wanted to to rhodium plating because it would "make my look brand new" and I didn't know that was necessary after resizing. I thought it was extremely unprofessional to not let me know that I would need that after resizing. My white gold ring was completely yellow after one week. I took my ring to another goldsmith and ended up needing rhodium plating and all...

I would like to start by saying that Davidson Jewelers store has the Best Jewelry in the Quad Cities. The owners Dave & his wife are great people they are fun, honest & wonderful to deal with. The people that dave hired are so wonderful to me to buy great Bracelets, Rings, Necklaces, & Watchs. All the ladys are very helpful at spending time to show any item to me. I respect them all for a job well done at the Davidson Store. There is one lady ( Kimberly ) that i Adore so much. If i had to give her a grade it would be ( A+ ) she is Wonderful to help me. Always goes out of her way to make sure I get the best product that im looking for. KIM is awesome & I think the world of her she is a special friend forever.
