After trying college for a year and realizing it wasn’t for me, I decided to check out the recruiting office and seeing if the military was for me. I was originally going to walk into the Army office, but something made me walk into the Navy one instead. Upon entering, I was greeted by all of the petty officers who were in the office. ET2 Hake took me under his wing and told me everything I needed to know about the navy. The same day, I took the practice ASVAB, scoring well enough. SAME DAY, signed papers to go to MEPS to take the actual ASVAB and get a medical screening. A week later, I passed the ASVAB and medical clearance and enlisted as an undesignated seamen, ready to leave to basic training a month and a half later. I was told all of the pros and cons of the SN-Pact program. ET2 Hake was extremely helpful and provided me all of the right tools and materials needed to make it in America’s Navy. 2 years later, I’m a Boatswains Mate Third Class Petty Officer.
