Run Don't Walk. Never Donate Your Money!!!
I was a resident here and let me tell you they are horrible.
First, they show favoritism the women can have consentual "relations" with other male residents and the men will get kicked out and the women can stay. They use the womens past trauma as an excuse to for their behavior to bully, harass and well you know.
I was bullied by four women in their 40's and 50's too old to get jealous of someone for being organized, exercising and tailoring my goals to the classes.
I finally had enough and told one of the girls that she had a "turkey neck." I wasn't lying. I could've said more. I had a roommate who would talk about me but would be so I'm nasty and leave poop stains in the toilet and the hair all in the shower.I was bullied in the van as well as at the house. It was horrible and brought back up some bad childhood experiences.
Most of the instructors and staff try to belittle you in class for speaking with your counselor about the attacks you are receiving stating that you are a " victim".
After speaking up for myself, I was blind sided a few days later. They put me out without warning knowing that I came there from Chicago. Luckily I had cash so I was not stranded.
Out of all the years that place has been open only a hand full of people have graduated.
These people are fake they will smile while plotting vengeance and that my friend is a dangerous environment to be in. And some that did graduate relapsed. The tools and the...
Read moreHope Gospel Mission Renewal Center for Men played a transformative role in my life when I was at my lowest. When I arrived, I was struggling with severe physical and mental health challenges, unable to maintain employment or relationships, and battling alcoholism. The extended program provided me with the support I needed to recover, rebuild, and grow in ways I never thought possible. Through their guidance, I regained my health, achieved sobriety, and developed crucial soft skills, particularly in the areas of character and resilience.
While the organization is not without its imperfections, and the staff may lack some formal credentials compared to other treatment centers I’ve attended, the outcomes they achieve with their resources are truly remarkable. Their dedication and genuine care surpass anything I have experienced elsewhere. The staff and program create an environment rooted in a Christian belief system, where people are actively helping others find hope and purpose.
Since completing the program, I have maintained my health and sobriety, secured steady employment, gotten married, and am now in the final year of pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Hope Gospel Mission pointed me toward a better path, equipping me with the resources and tools I needed to succeed. For that, I am profoundly grateful. This is a place that changes lives for the better, and I wholeheartedly commend them for the impactful...
Read moreCharity Navigator rates this organization as 4 star, with a 93% overall rating. It appears that Hope Gospel Mission returns over 80 % of it's income to their mission. That is excellent, as they also have to pay wages and other upkeep cost. I've been traveling through Eau Claire for the last 35 years, and have always stopped and bought at their thrift shop, as I have personally observed them building a Men's Center, and more recently a Women's center. I thoroughly support their mission, and their spiritual guiding principals. If you are blessed and feel compelled to try to give something back, please consider supporting this...
