Talked with a gal on the phone by the name of Heather to see about setting my mom and dad up with Spectrum when they move in September. She said too early to set up, only need 5 days. Ok, I explained they would need someone to come to their home to set it up seeing how they are elderly and won't be able to do this. Still only need 5 days. I thought this is weird especially when a tech is going to be needed but she knows she's the one that works for them.
She then started talking about my service and how the new Apple TV boxes are great. She told me she could ship out 2 seeing how we had 2 receivers. Once I got them to set up one and see how we liked it. If we didn't like it we could return them to the local store. I would have nothing to loose by trying these Apple Boxes to see if they worked for us. When they arrived a couple days later, and set one up, we did not like it. Called to start the return process as noted and told that once you break the seal on the box it's yours. Well, how am I going to know if this will work for us if I don't set it up? We also had a problem where the remote would not change the channel, it stayed stuck on the first channel. Called in and no help at all, it was the you broke the seal on the box it's now your's. They even sent me to Apple and they wanted to charge me $70 to send out a new remote for the equipment I just got that day. I'm now stuck with a Apple TV box that only gets one channel that I will be paying for for the next 23 months.
The Apple TV Box is way to confusing and too easy for someone to order movies and jack the bill way up. There is no way to change channels unless you scroll through the whole list of channels to find your station you want to watch, no way to just enter a channel number, Siri doesn't recognize channel numbers at all.
When I called back today after I cooled down from the Apple Box issues last night (over 2 hours and no results other than you broke the seal it's now yours and Apple wants to charge me to send a new remote for brand new equipment I just got.) I spoke with a very helpful gentleman that said Yes we need to start setting up your mom and dad's service now especially knowing that they need to send a tech to do the install for my mom and dad, he said we need to get this on the schedule now. He was most helpful and has saved me as a Spectrum client for now. I will give Jay 5 stars, he's the only one going above and beyond. Everyone else I have talked with I will give negative stars to.
We will see how this goes in a little while when I try to return the old cable box and the unopened Apple TV box to the local office. I have a feeling it's not...
Read moreI have had a spectrum account for about 2 years I decided to add a mobile line and get basic Internet for my home. Should be easy enough right??? Wrong!!! I called I told the lady I wanted to pay my existing bill which was $137 for an old past due and sent to collections to get I owed them as well as $71.42 on my mobile line the legit one. It's pretty interesting how they do business Better commission for new account sales, I thought I added the new services to my legit existing account but what actually happened was rather than apply my payment to my existing Bill and then add new services to the existing legitament acount they went ahead and created a new account in nearly my name only added 4 extra letter D's at the end of my name. I'm positive there is a law being broken here. As a result the money paid did not go to my existing bill but to the new account and I didn't get the promotional price as promised. I now have spent well over 30 hours in the past month on the phone and in person trying to get this straightened out all the while getting harassing phone calls from both the collections agency as well as spectrums own henchmen. They don't think that they should remedy this at all they just think I should pay what they say I owe and be happy. So existing bill increases the $12 from the $71 - $83 the new line was for my son but I wanted him using the old phone on the new phone line and I would get the new phone on the old line. I have literally spent more than 23 hours in there past 17 days attempting to get the phones swapped do my son can use it I have spent over $300 in the same about of time, today I'm told I still owe for the old bill ($137) plus nearly 200 for the new line and Internet I've proved that I didn't owe them anything currently several times now but they have decided that I do and all the money that I have paid really didn't go to anything they're just going to keep it and tell me they can't see the payment horrible horrible business practice very unsatisfied will be calling the better Business bureau and filing a lawsuit worst...
Read moreThe internet service goes out constantly. Literally EVERY single day there are interruptions throughout the day, sometimes just a few minutes at a time, other times for hours or a whole day. When the internet does actually work, it is super slow, nowhere near the 100 mbps advertised. I hope you don't mind lags and ocassional loading screens, because that's what you get when the service works. When you call about the outages, it usually takes about 40-60 minutes just to reach an actual person to speak with. They acknowledge that they can see major interruptions in service, but don't fix it.
"Have you tried resetting your router and modem?" Yes, several times. And it did nothing. "Well try it again and see if it works this time." I've tried it again and again and again, it doesn't help. "Well try it again and call back if that doesn't work."
Then they finally sent a tech. The tech was great, he was on time, polite, and honest, and he tested several possible causes. He explained that it "should" be working but isn't for some reason. He couldn't fix it, so he acknowledged that our service was trash and got us brand new equipment and set up an entirely new system. It was working when he left, so we had hope. But by the next morning it was back to cutting in and out. It still doesn't work. I have to drive to other places that have WiFi (which is difficult to find during a pandemic) just to use internet I can trust for important work meetings and school classes.
