Today, I visited the Eau Claire branch to print some materials. As a teacher, I frequently need to print various documents for my classes, and Office Max has been my go-to for over 10 years. While the printing staff usually provide good service, today's experience was frustrating.
I arrived at the counter 50 minutes before closing to print a single sheet of one-sided business cards. Unfortunately, the person assisting me seemed untrained and said it was impossible to complete the job with the remaining time. I mentioned that earlier in the week, another staff member had successfully handled similar or even more complex tasks.
When I asked if someone else could help, she called the manager. The manager's response was rude, emphasizing that I didn’t understand their workload before closing. I am aware they have other duties, but I was also the only customer, requesting just one sheet and two posters. Their tone and attitude were disappointing.
On previous visits, another staff member had also faced challenges with formatting but showed a willingness to help by calling a coworker, who I regret not remembering her name. She was efficient, kind, and immensely helpful, patiently assisting both me and her coworker in formatting documents.
Though I’ve tried other printing places, I never experienced such poor service. Despite sometimes needing patience at Office Max, I valued the convenience of also purchasing supplies there. However, today's visit was too much.

Together, Erik and his colleague exemplified excellent customer service, demonstrating a genuine commitment to ensuring a positive shopping experience. Their professionalism and attentiveness were truly commendable.

It is no wonder there were only 2 customers in the store on a weekend and no other staff working other than printing dept. He probably had high staff turnover. He sent me on a goose chase for what I was looking for and I found it on the opposite side of the store. I was at checkout submitted the wrong credit card, so asked him to cancel order, his demeanor was very rude and demanded why, then rather than re-ringing my order he began checking out then next customer.
