I don’t usually write reviews. But the level of disregard I experienced here demands documentation.

I arrived on time for a scheduled appointment. I sat for nearly 30 minutes without acknowledgment while white clients were greeted warmly, offered water, and seated immediately. I was observed but ignored, not accidentally, but deliberately.

I’ve been to this salon before. I’ve tipped well. I’ve been respectful, clear, and consistent. That context matters.

When I was finally taken, my nails were ripped off without a proper soak….basic industry standard. It was painful. The technician asked, “Did it hurt?”

I said yes. I smiled. That smile wasn’t consent, it was control.

The rest of the service followed the same tone: flat energy, vague eye contact, and subtle mockery about my nail preferences. I didn’t engage. I didn’t complain. I watched.

Meanwhile, other clients were pampered, praised, and treated with warmth. The contrast wasn’t subtle. It was structural.

I tipped. I left. I said nothing. And that silence is why you won’t find their usual excuse under this review, no “aggressive customer,” no “disruption,” no scene. Just one person quietly documenting the difference.

This salon does not treat all clients equally. If you don’t fit the image they’ve decided is worth serving with care, in race, in appearance, in perceived status, the treatment shifts. Quietly. Intentionally.

What they didn’t count on was someone who noticed. And writes clearly.

I won’t return. But this review will remain, for the next client sitting quietly, wondering if they’re being treated differently.

I had a very disappointing experience at Cozy Nails. I scheduled an appointment for a gel manicure with design on each finger through the Square Go app and was booked with AMY. When I arrived, I was switched without explanation to Kevin, who did my nails start to finish. I didn’t mind the change at first since he seemed confident, but the service quickly went downhill.

When I sat down, Kevin and Ricky (the tech seated next to him) started laughing under their breath at the design already on my nails—a design done by a prominent Minnesota nail artist. When I asked what was funny, neither responded, and they just kept laughing. It was unprofessional and very uncomfortable.

I specifically asked for gel polish, but Kevin added acrylics instead without explanation. I also requested short nails multiple times, but while trimming with a high-speed file, he burned the tip of my finger, and when I pulled away saying it hurt, he had no response or apology.

The worst part: I showed a photo of a tortoise shell French tip (what I wanted), and instead I left with something that looks like cheetah print tips. What I got was nowhere near what I asked for.

I expected to pay $65 as quoted, but at checkout was charged $81. I wouldn’t have minded paying more if the result had matched what I asked for, but unfortunately it did not.

REVIEW UPDATE - first few times here great. Today was ridiculous. Had an apt for 10:30 with Danny for a gel manicure. A lady did my nails and not who I had requested. They didn’t start my nails until after 11 and did not leave until 12:10. All I asked for was gel and chrome on top. Communication can be difficult here and I understand that but I simply wanted chrome and help match a color I found online. Danny took time out to help create a color but the other person acted like it was my fault and I was a bother for asking for a color I had in mind. Not sure I’ll be back, paid $60 for a gel and chrome manicure that took nearly 2 hours (with an apt which I was bumped for walk ins apparently) and disappointed in how the nails turn out. I am not sure if I’ve ever left a negative review for nails because it’s not serious but everything about today was ridiculous. Not sure why ask for apts and who you want to do your nails if you don’t honor either of those requests.

First time here! Danny was very detailed and did great with my nail design request!...
