I don't know what is going on with the place. The first time I went we asked to be seated outside, but were told by the young girl at the front that the patio was closed due to it being too hot (it was 79). There was already another table eating outside, and when I inquired about it I was rudely told that they were seated before it got hot... I asked if the waiter who was waiting that table was really unable to handle another one. The hostess rolled her eyes and went to ask and the waiter said he was fine with it. We had a nice meal outside and while sitting there at least 5 more tables were seated outside. I chalked it up to a a strange or perhaps inexperienced hostess.
That brings me to my experience today. We returned having enjoyed the food from our first trip, despite the unwelcoming attitude. This time when we asked to be seated outside we were told by another young girl that the patio was closed due to wind. I let out a bit of a laugh because there was barely a small breeze. I again asked if there were really no waiters brave enough to work in a slight breeze but was rudely told NO. As my group discussed where we should go instead two other groups came in looking for patio seating and were turned away. We eventually drove over to Redstone and sat out on their lovely patio which was full of people enjoying the gorgeous weather.
I don't know if management is aware of their hostess's gatekeeping the large patio area, but this is a terrible business model if you don't want to be hemorrhaging potential customers. We don't get many months of nice weather in Minnesota and people want to enjoy being outside when they can. We will probably not be returning since it isn't worth getting rude looks and sass from the young girls at the front desk, which is a shame because the food is...
Read moreI spotted this restaurant passing through Eden Prairie. The patio looked great! Finally made it over there, but it was for dinner. So we opted to sit indoors. No need to get eaten alive by mosquitoes while we eat & the sun was near setting.
Our food came and it was ok. For the price and what I ordered, the short rib ravioli, it came out at quite a small portion. The veggies were sparce and just under blanched. I know it's hard to get it perfect when you have a somewhat crowded house, but it was a Tuesday night. Not a weekend. And even then... We were all hoping to share each other's entrees for fun but there wasn't enough to share! I went home with barely any leftovers.
If I can make a couple of suggestions....don't use so much oil, salt, cheese, butter, etc. The dish(s) honestly didn't need it, were drowning in it and it's not a healthy practice. And try and close that huge door that goes out onto the patio at night. Flies visited our booth, which was quite annoying. I was sitting indoors and my ankles and legs suffered some pretty harsh bug bites! They like to hang low to the ground.
The one dish that had a decent flavor, out of the variety that we ordered at our family table, was the chicken, bacon mac n cheese. But again, be careful. It is LOADED with sodium. The bourbon barrel aged zinfandel had decent notes, but turns out it was just another "run of the mill red". Lacking mouthfeel and was not resting in the barrel long enough. I see that folks do enjoy your restaurant, so you will survive. It's just that I have been blessed (or cursed) with extremely picky and particular taste buds. I realize you have quite the overhead, but it shouldn't have to be taken out of the quality of your...
Read moreImpressed with this establishment! Never knew this place existed until my wife and I noticed the patio with red umbrellas from busy Prairie Center Drive. As complete walk-ins, we are glad we decided to check it out. The wood smoke aroma hit me right away walking in the door, and I loved it. That likely inspired me to order a Smoking Gun Maple Old Fashioned (what an absolute treat) and my wife ordered a Lavender Mule (very refreshing)! Our server was Julianna, and she was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She took care of our every need - EXCELLENT service. For dinner, I enjoyed the Hot Honey Chicken and Waffles, My dish was very good, The chicken was crispy and tender inside while the waffles were thick and substantial. This may sound like a rather simple option, but it honestly was a high quality meal and it paired so nicely with my drink. The chicken was brined in brown sugar and buttermilk. There was a macadamia bourbon syrup on the side. The waffles were made with a golden malt. I will advise it was sweet but I knew that getting into it. Meanwhile, my wife had the Cedar Planked Stuffed Salmon and stated she had not had food that good in a very long time. The Salmon was stuffed with crab, brie, and sun-dried tomatoes. It was served over garlic mashed red potatoes, grilled broccolini and a lemon beurre blanc. Our entire meal was about $75, and we feel it was absolutely worth the value. We will most...
