On sunday afternoon we decided to try this place on friend’s recommendation. before I write out this review, let me tell you honestly that I am north India and a very judgemental foodie! it was around 2:30 PM or almost 3 PM but the store hours on google said that they are open so we just stop by. as soon as we entered the restaurant, it seemed pretty open and clean sitting space with good furniture. Though we were bummed that there was no natural light inside. All window treatments were down and it was pretty dark. It was a beautiful day outside 60 degree spring. Anyways we ignored. We took a corner table and ordered Vegetable Platter , Tandoori Chicken, Garlic Naan, Muglai Biryani and Butter chicken. Platter was awesome. But I was very much bummed to taste Tandoori chicken!! the meat was cold, and it was brought out on a sizzler plate and with no proper, garnish or lemon. The tandoori chicken was very bland with no salt or spice to it just looked red colored meat and that the cold. Luckily, we had green chutney from vegetable platter and I used that to eat it. this was the worst tandoori chicken I ever ate in my life. Next bummer was biryani. I think half of the Minneapolis doesn’t know how to make biryani. No one actually takes time out to understand the dish. How should be cooked how it should be plated and what kind of flavor should go into it. The name itself is Mughlai biryani, and the way it was brought was like a fried rice that was mixed with leftover biryani masala and meat. Who adds peas and green bell pepper in biryani? Where are you chefs from.. Atleast you can watch Youtube videos on authentic recipes and not fool public!! My kids ate it as they dont know any better. But I being biryani fan couldnt stand it. why they charge their customers more by saying biryani when in reality, they are just giving fried rice ?!! I am not taking step inside this restaurant anymore.. Order only samosa from here. It was good and I am gi mving 2 stars for that only.
Whatever good reviews you see here are from non-desi crowd who are most gullible.
If you want good biryani - Order from Hyderabdi biryani house in Plymouth. They are still not 10/10 but would be somewhat 7/10 in biryani...
Read moreI can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review. My high school boyfriend brought me here for the first time nearly 18 years ago (whoa I feel old now) and I’ve been coming back ever since. This is hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever had, or will ever have. The food is excellent quality Every. Single. Time. This is one of my husband and I’s favorite restaurants. I’ve had Indian food at other places around town and it never compares to here. This is the only place I will get Indian food from. Order from here, you will not be disappointed I promise.
Edit March 2024: like I mentioned before I’ve been eating here for like 20 years. Over the last 6 months my husband and I have noticed that the spice level is waaaay off. It’s always been the exact same every time I order. Now we never know what kind of spice level we are going to get. I used to order medium and my husband extra hot. Once they were so hot they were not edible and my husband was putting sour cream in his to make it edible. Other times I order medium and it tastes less than mild. This is super disappointing because I’ve been a long time customer of this restaurant. Not sure if there was some change of the management or the cook? I also asked a friend of mine who has been coming here the last 5 years and she has noticed the same thing.
Edit June 2024: after ordering medium multiple times and it tasting mild (so much so my baby was eating it) I was craving some spice. Ordered my usual dish hot and it was totally not edible. I choked down a small bowl full but ultimately gave the rest to my husband who likes lots of spice. I miss the old medium and don’t know how to order here anymore ☹️ I don’t see the usual woman and who I presume were her daughter and son working in the restaurant. Wondering if there was a change in ownership…I haven’t seen them in the past year and that’s when I noticed a change in the...
Read moreHad been there 3 to 4 times, every time thinking this time at least, we would get a good service and tasty - authentic Indian food. But everytime this restaurant disappoints me with their food quality and service.
This is the only Indian restaurant (amongst 4 to 5 others) in and around Eden Prairie, which always have lesser crowd and I have yet met nobody who praises this eating joint.
This time when we went (after 3 long years avoiding it), it was yet another terrible experience, food (buffet) was overpriced and having very poor quality. You get very less items for your choice and everything was very oily and made of cheap ingredients.
Gulab Jamun was very greasy and made of bread, unlike the authentic ones which are made up of a milk byproduct (called Khowa in India).
The meat & chicken quality was not fresh and smelly also they use lot of frozen / packed food from Costco.
The most shocking thing was, when at the billing counter we went to pay, they refused to accept the discount coupons which they themselves had mail out to in our neighbourhood. This was a very unprofessional behaviour. The restaurant owner started bargaining with us, that he will not accept the full coupon and only the 75% of the coupon value, he further started to throw excuse like, he don't have rights but the other partner of him has rights to accept the discount coupons, or come next time and I will accept your coupons, we all (6 of us) felt very pity and disgusted by their behaviour and rude attitude. We finally paid the full amount and left. I mean, if you don't want to give discount then do not mail out the discount coupons, simply do not, period.
All 6 of my friend's and their families have taken a pledge not to visit this restaurant ever again.
Don't ruin your afternoon or evening and go to any other decent eatery but avoid this place, that would be my...
