We had my daughter's 6th birthday party here and we were disappointed.
Even though the party was not what was expected the owner listened to our feedback and returned half of our money.
My daughter decided she wanted to have her party at Way Cool Cooking School after she went on a school district field trip, where I am assuming they shamelessly plugged their Frozen themed birthday party.
The food was good and the flow of the party was good, but the party facilitator and the atmosphere were lacking.
The party facilitator, which was the owner, Lynn, was not fun or upbeat in the least. She was actually strict and mean. She discouraged talking for 75% of the party and all eyes needed to be on her. I understand focus is necessary for the activities, but the way she asked the kids to focus took the fun out of the party. Maybe they cook too many things for a 2 hour party, the party attendees did not get a chance to enjoy the celebration. The adults that were there even commented on her and several of the kids said they did not have fun, when asked.
As mentioned, the atmosphere was also lacking fun. It was explained over the phone as a fun Frozen soundtrack sing-a-long, but I the music was barely audible and singing was not encouraged at any time.
I would not recommend this to a friend.

Read moreThis is not a cooking school, this is an assembly class. I can not stress this enough. If you want to learn to cook, or level up your cooking skills this isn't the place. On top of instructors not teaching or mentioning the basics of knife skills or using anything close to technical terms for the three things we had to actually prep, they seemed to disagree with each other at steps, including how to even use an oven in the classroom. Additionally they were under prepped for the class.
We also found it awkward as a date night experience, we were forced to cook with others. This was entirely unexpected.
One of the two instructors we had was a total try to be cool. You know that girl in middle school who tried way too hard to be liked? That was her. We're not here to make friends with the instructor. We wanted to learn more about cooking. Less "like me like me" behavior, more teaching please.
Nail in the coffin for me is I did NOT opt in to have this place text me after the fact, yet they are.
If you want to drink wine and have someone cook dinner for you while you hang out with friends and make new ones, then this is for you.
If you want to come away learning about cooking, old or new, this is NOT the...
Read moreHad a great experience with Chef Mary. The owner, Lynn Elliot doesnât communicate effectively and avoids returning your call when it comes to discussing specific items that have been falsely advertised on her website. When you do finally speak with her, her tone is condescending and she mutters unkind comments under her breath. Not your typical honest business owner. Many hidden items/additional costs to you. Chef hats and tablecloths are not included, rather ridiculous up charges that are hidden from any messaging on the website. The tables are set up to include themed decorations (ex: pop it theme is set up with physical pop-its at each place setting that children cannot take home). Additionally, your child cannot bring their birthday cake toppings home with them. Lynn Elliot passes down her merchant services credit card fees to you which adds to the cost of your party. If you have two children they will tac on additional fees for aprons, etc. Overall impression, Lynn cares more about making money (nickel-and-diming while not being transparent) than making sure it is a good, positive experience for all. Read the sub-par reviews, I wish...
