If I could refrain from giving one star I would have. However, I could not submit this review without at least selecting one star.
I purchased a TV Stand and was told by Lonnie Lonnie (the female worker claims this is her name) that they had the item in stock however, I needed to wait for the following day to get it. And that she would make sure she let the men who were out making deliveries (strangely enough they happened to have the item I purchased on their truck) to set it aside so that I could pick up my TV stand the following day after 12p.m.
I called about an hour after the promised day/time and spoke with Lonnie Lonnie to inquire about the pick up address for my item. She proceeds to state, "Oh they are out making deliveries, you are going to have to wait about 1.5 hrs to get the item" Unfortunately this was not acceptable for me as I was in town (I live out of town) and specifically came to Elizabeth to pick up the item (which I was told was in stock) that I had purchased the day before. I politely told Lonnie that I was told by her that I could pick up my item after 12p.m. She proceeds to say, "Um the men were out until 10p.m making deliveries last night and I was already sleeping and they went out early at 7a.m this morning and I was sleeping so I don't know what to tell you!" She then starts to get more agitated as I am just sitting there on the phone listening to her rant. She then says, "You know what! You have to wait, I have to see if my father in law can take it out for you, okay bye!" And proceeds to hang up the phone on me, before I could ask or say anything else.
A few moments later I park my vehicle and enter the store to respectfully request a refund because I no longer wanted to deal with this company. She starts yelling at me and states," I TOLD YOU TO WAIT 1.5 HRS! you don't know how to read, the receipt says no refunds!" And starts to walk away to the back. This meanwhile the older gentleman (who I later learned is the father of the owner, Manny Salermo) just sits there and doesn't even bat an eye at least to attempt to calm his worker down. I stated to the female worker Lonnie Lonnie that her attitude was undignified and that her customer service left a lot to be desired. She continues to verbally attack me and yells," THIS IS HOW I TALK! IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, IT'S YOUR PROBLEM! NOT MINE!" I immediately asked to speak to the manager or owner and she walks to the back and returns after making a call (I suppose) and says the owner will be here in 90mins. I expressed my disgust to her and told her "you can't be treating paying customers with such viciousness and disregard. You don't know who you could be dealing with." She then walks up to me in an intimidating manner and yells," oh what? you're going to take a gun and shoot me up or something!? You need mental help!" She then says to the older gentleman who stood there like a statute the whole time, "this one doesn't get it!" in Spanish. I then answered her in Spanish that she needs to get some humility and manners. I walked away from that store safe, although I seriously felt this woman was going to physically attack me.
A gentleman at the Salermo jewelry store a block a way graciously put me in touch with the Avenue Salermo Furniture Store owner, Manny Salermo and after I explained in great detail how his worker treated me, a paying customer, I was given a refund.
I have never in my 30 odd years in this planet been treated by a place of business in such a hostile and threatening manner in which the woman (Lonnie?) who works at the Avenue Furniture Store in Elizabeth, NJ did.
I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND Avenue Furniture Store. Please go elsewhere if you want to be treated with dignity and respect. And if you want a business to deliver on their promises. I can only imagine how the rest of the population (specifically the Spanish speaking population who are local to Elizabeth who figure they are just going to shop local) STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR...
Read moreI do not recommend this store, the most frustrating experience I have ever had. To beginning with, I bought my bed, 2 nightstands and the mattress, on Black Friday because supposedly they had discounts, and according to them they applied a discount but in reality they had the same price because I went to the stores months before and it was the same price, I bought it anyway. Then when I was going to pay, I was going to do it with my credit card, which they offered me to pay through zelle and save me taxes, it is obvious that when transferring a large amount to a new account it usually takes 3 business days, the next day They were calling me to tell me that they were going to cancel the order because the money was not reflected and I asked them to please not cancel the order, to wait the 3 days either way the delivery was supposed to be done 2 weeks later, So they had nothing to lose. After all that, they brought me the delivery and they gave me the wrong mattress, I spent 3 days feeling uncomfortable and I went to the store to let them know the situation, the assistant who works there told me to call the next day and I did that , then she told me that she was calling me to see what could be done and 2 days passed without calling, which I decided to go personally to the store and they immediately gave me a solution to exchange the mattress. I had to pay a delivery fee for the "new" mattress, which I did not think was fair since they made the mistake of bringing the wrong mattress. They told me that they would deliver it on Saturday (it was 3 days after the claim) I called on Saturday Because they had not called me and they told me that on Monday, because they had delays, on Monday I called and they told me that on Tuesday, that Tuesday I called again at 11am and the secretary answered me and I said "are you going to bring me the mattress today or not?" very disrespectful she laughed and she told me to wait and then she told me that they would take it from 4-7pm. When the mattress arrives, I checked it to see if it was the right one and yes it was, but I realize that they brought me a used mattress, there were yellow stains on the edges, I'm sure it was the same one they had as an example in the store, I showed them to the guys who left the mattress and I let them know and they told me that I could call to make a claim. But after so much frustration I prefer to leave it like this, but ultimately I do not recommend this store to anyone. They lack better customer service, respect and...
Read moreI purchased a bedroom set in Avenue Furniture on 2/16/13 . Everything was fine till the bed collapsed in the middle of the night while I was sleeping !! I personally went in the next morning which was 7/15/13 and spoke to the secreatary and she told me " depending on how the bed is ,we will give you the guarantee". she also told me not to move the bed at all ,because they have to send somebody and check it out .well we had to wait 4 day !! till that person came . After I insisted in calling them to remind them I was still waiting !! So for 4 days I had to sleep in the floor !! So I called on 7/18/13 and finally got them to come out to see the bed ..They came and took pictures and said they had to show there boss ..i waited a couple of hours and called to see what happened .So I was told by the secretary that the owner saw the pictures and said "we broke the bed "!!! Can you belive that ! Why would I call them to come take a look at a bed that was broke because of movement .The wood split off the frame ,it seemed it was damaged already.Long story short ,they assembled the furniture, So they should be held accountable. Its been only 5 months since I purchased the bedroom set. They dont want to offer me any assistant. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE !!! POOR...
