La Cabaña — Restaurant in Elizabeth

Really poor service, and a Soccer game playing too loud on the TV made the experience less enjoyable. The menu that was online did not match what they had. The menu they presented didn't give any description as to what you where getting on the plate and when I asked about it, it seemed that the server didn't understand why I would ask about what comes with the order when it isn't printed anywhere. SO, he explained that " every plate comes with Beans, rice, salad, avocado except for those that don't...." It was not what I was expecting, but I was hungry so I ordered and was lucky enough to get a plate that comes with beans, rice, and salad...but no avocado. I ordered an Iced Tea, which they tried to give me a Snapple, so I clarified I wanted ICED TEA which they said was un-sweet. That turned out to mean that they don't have any Sweetener other than sugar, which I have had happen rarely in 3rd world countries that don't have those type of things but couldn't believe it would happen in the US. To get a refill, I had to take it to the kitchen, which they then charged me for a second tea. It seemed that they keep the place clean but lights were out, so some people were eating in a dark corner and the table I was at was so unlevel, I had to keep pushing my plate away from me. I went here before years ago margaritas and food were delicious. Went back again two Saturdays ago, and the food seems to have changed negatively as per my party. I liked my food (shrimp and rice), but my mom didn't and neither did my sister (I tried my mom's which I liked -it was creamy shrimp, but my sister's I didn't I think it was some kind of tortilla with cheese on top... ) I have to say the tiramisu was really reaaaally good tho and the flan (my mom found it a little too sweet). Also the nachos and guacamole were super good (everybody agreed on that). Prices are decent and the staff superfriendly

Edit: went back a few weeks ago, and we got soft tacos and camarones al ajillo, and it everything was delicious, but the star of the night were the margaritas... I can...

I found La Cabaña about 16 years ago, my first date with my now wife. everything was great, but over the years quality and service has been going down the gutter. Today was the last drop that broke the stone, i don't know how you mess up and order, my wife and my son order a carne asada, I order mexican style steak ( it takes a little longer than the carne asada to cook) my playlte came out, we wait for about 10 minute before some one came and told us that there was a mistake,that their plates will come out shortly. ( people that was sat after we place our orden GOT their food earlier) 5 more minutes and the rest of our orden came out, my food was already cold. I don't know about anyone else but I can't...
