Dollar General (store number #19341) has been the general store I have come to frequent over the last year. Due to the devastating effects COVID-19 has had on my neighborhood, it was nice to rely on DG for my general needs as I didn't have to travel too far and the convenience and selection of goods has always been one I've come to appreciate.
However, I am completely deterred from ever spending another dime at this location (or company in general) due to the verbal abuse I received from one of store #19341's employees. I came to the register to check out and was not informed that it was not encouraged to withdrawal cash from them. Though there is a handwritten sign that indicates they are accepting exact change or credit/debit as payment, it does not, however, discourage customers from cash withdrawals (as the credit card machine still allowed me to do so.) In the cashier's frustration, she very rudely berated me, asking me if I could read. Because I did not wish to become confrontational with the employee, I continued my checkout and left. But, the experience has left me feeling betrayed and angry.
DG opens new stores in my neighborhood yearly. Ever since the company's acquisition of Family Dollar, there are more DG's in my town than ever before and I'm sure they arenât going to slow down - and at the expense of local "mom and pop" general stores in my area. If DG wishes to continue to positively engage with the members of the communities they continue to infiltrate, you'd think they would instill in their employees a sense of responsibility in furthering that relationship. But, alas, I am left feeling unappreciated, disrespected and eager to spend my...
Read moreI love dollar general. I buy almost all of my items from there and visited all the stores of Elizabeth and Hillside. it bothers me to see people disrespecting the stores, like the thieves come in with backpacks or large coats to steal and there's no one or not enough staff to notice or make themselves available in the aisles. I worked retail and I know how it is, no one wants to risk their lives for products but the store intercom doesn't make the employees any safer cuz it don't seem they truly have a visual on the store aisle by aisle, I have witnessed it happening and told the girl on the floor, unfortunately he got away. Also, the register and vault is very visible to everyone, so if I notice it I'm sure others have too! NOT VERY SAFE AT ALL!!! NEED MORE SECURITY IN THESE STORE.. I'M SURE THE AUDITS ARE VERY HIGH FOR MOST OF THESE STORES. I'VE BEEN IN ONE STORE WITH ONLY ONE EMPLOYEE ALONE OR JUST TWO STAFF - CASHIER AND STOCK GIRL.. TO ME ITS A UNSECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS, TIME ARE VERY CRITICAL OUT HERE AND GOD FORBID ANY INCIDENTS OCCURS IN ANY THE LOCATION I'M IN BECAUSE WHATS THE SAYING: SEE SOMETHING SAY...
Read moreCustomer success/experience should always be the goal for those that are in retail. Their retention is your ROI. I say this in hopes that their workers would learn professionalism or carry a bit more decorum when greeting customersâmy greet was a command.
Me - ::enters store:: crossbody bag on and shopping bag with items on my left shoulder.
