I usually tend to order from more high-end retailers such as Saks or Barney's, and my experience with this retailer is precisely why. I was in a hurry to get something to wear to a wedding, and saw that there was a big sale. I got 2 vests intending to wear one, but thought "These are such a cheap price, why not?" I wore the vest that the sales person (Mason) in the Mens wear had suggested. After less than 30 minutes a button had fallen off. I looked around before the wedding started, and could not find it anywhere. I had the other vest in my car, so I went out and quickly changed. When I returned to Belk to show them what had happened I had a very bad experience. Mason was again the person that had helped me. This was a complete different side of the same person that had helped me once before. I got a very short response of "No" when I asked to exchange for the same thing in the same size. He then proceeded to fill out an alterations card and handed it to me. I thought "it is what it is" and left. After leaving, within 10 minutes someone called me and I told them what had happened. I was very surprised to hear that one of my friends had a similar experience, and they found that his wife owns the alteration shop. So, it seemed to me like he was only doing this to send his wife business. When I confronted the Manager-On-Duty, I was very rudely interrupted when I brought to his attention I thought that doing business with his wife was in my terms considered a conflict of interest.
I very nicely informed the manager-on-duty that I do not feel comfortable returning to the store to pick the merchandise up, and I do not want to receive a phone call. He told me that it was not possible to not receive a phone call, and then told me "if you want to throw $40 away, then you need to come back in the store and throw it away yourself".
With that being said, I do not encourage anyone to do their business with Belk. They have probably the worst customer service of any retail business I have ever...
Read moreI love the products. Women's shoes, cosmetics, parfum, lingerie. Love the New Direction brand of clothing, including panties! Truthfully do not feel that the HUE brand of socks is anything special, so definitely over-priced, cute designs but no better quality. HUE tights for women however are worth the money. Purses! I buy really almost exclusively from Belk. Panties too. I buy most all of my most important purchases at Belk. The quality is excellent. The style is right. The atmosphere and comfort of the store is great. It's my number one store. I do think they could use more staff. They seemed so overworked last couple of visits I made. I could have used more help. So I'm taking it down from 5 to 4 stars! I don't like traipsing around looking for someone to help me!But it's not them, it's the company. Hire more help! If the employee morale is low, that makes me sad and I like to be happy while I...
Read moreI have nothing but great things to say! I ordered 60 glass and metal candle hurricane items for my upcoming wedding. As you can imagine when shipping glass no matter how careful people are, some are bound to break. Every customer service person I talked to on the phone was more than helpful. Greta was great at updating my shipping address right after I submitted my order and then realized it was sending all of them to my old address. Truly a lifesaver. Eric, Kevin, and Kevin were super helpful in reordering and reshipping items when I would call about damaged ones arriving. I highly recommend shopping at Belk. I have dealt with many customer service departments for various things, but the Belk CS team all went above and beyond to make this part of my dream wedding stress-free and provided corrections for anything...
