[Edited: Merrill proved to be a good business in that they extended their offer to refund the chair beyond the week deadline I was intially given and kept good to their word. I still wish that they would have sent someone out to fix it, since we really liked it, and I believe it possibly could have been adjusted, but Iâm satisfied with the outcome.]
Needed a rocker for a medical condition. First one was unevenâvisibly different wear. I let them replace that with the floor model, which had a few dings and a âhitchâ at the top of the glide. An internet search revealed that this is easily fixable and a call to the Amish furniture place in Holden confirmed that these chairs often require minor bolt adjustments to function properly, but Merrill would not even try. I contacted the manufacturer, thinking they might advise me as to how to adjust it myself. They were initially willing, but Merrill said that they should diagnose a problem first. However, when I called to set this up, they refused, saying âit was fine when [they] tested it in the store." Three weeks later, it jumps every time someone rocks. Their price on this scuffed, used chair was $300 more than their online competitorâs [when on sale]. The benefit of buying local is having help if something goes wrong, but they donât honor their supposed year-long warranty. Iâd shop elsewhere if you want things ârightâ versus âalmost right.â [They made it right in the end, thus I changed it to 3 stars rather than one, as I still didnât appreciate the rudeness and rigidity of the first person I dealt with there, though Mr. Merrill himself is...
Read moreVERY disappointed. although the staff was courteous, I did not buy the recliner and mattress we went there for, for these 3 reasons. They simply said no when I asked about the Simmons 0% interest rate offered by Simmons. Merrill furniture wouldn't do it (their competetier just up the street was happy to do it for us) This one I really can't hold against them, I had asked about getting the sale price I had seen offered at their store, the month before, on the recliner that I wanted to buy. They said no. ok, I was still gonna buy the mattress and recliner. Then, I was told they would NOT take away the old mattress when they delivered the new one. Because it had not had a mattress cover on it and was stained. It was a 15 year old temperpedic. It was not a dirty mattress, It had a small stain on it and was 15 years old. Nope, they were not going to take our old mattress. They clearly did not need or want the business. The appliance and mattress shop just up the street did. We left Merrill furniture and went right up to the other shop and bought our mattress there where they were glad to do the paperwork for the 0% interest, and no problem to take away our old mattress. They didn't carry recliners there or we would have bought that there as well. Still don't understand what was going on at Merrill furniture. Odd. Rhonda Pastori,...
Read moreI will never do business here again. I bought a sleep sofa August of â22. No one slept in it until this summer. I opened it upâŚit was upside down. We flipped it and there were unidentifiable stains on the mattress and on the mattress cover. When I removed the cover, both sides were discolored, along the entire outside edge. Mr. Merrill suggested my cat might have peed on the couch. That would have been an impossible feat even for my stellar cat.
He said he would check with the manufacturer to see if they had ever heard of this happening. What were they to say, yes and lose Merrillâs business? I am offended that he would consider me to be below average intelligence. He suggested I was lying and said âin no way would he replace the mattress for freeâ. Three days later he called to tell me of the manufacturerâs response of no they had never had this issue and he said he would replace the mattress at cost for $195. I wouldnât give him play money at this juncture.
Be very sure to unwrap your purchases while the delivery people are still at your house. I did not do that and...
