DB House sober living — Local services in Elmwood Park

Could not have asked for a better place to live, group of men to recover with, or person leading the DB House Sober Living group. The rules are simple and basic and the houses are in great condition. When something needs fixed, it gets fixed. When issues come up, they are addressed. The most important part, for me at least, was being able to talk to Mark at anytime when needed. Big or small, he made himself available to talk about it. I never felt like I was alone in this journey and being able to talk to someone who's lived it, experienced it, and got back on the other side of it was amazing.

Like anything, however, I had to put in the work to get something out of it. The requirement to attend meetings, get a sponsor, and have a home group didn't just give me guard rails, it gave me tangible tools to succeed. Encouraging comity with other men and women like me - creating a sober network of individuals who want to get better - no dollar amount can be associated with it.

I'll always be grateful to Mark and to the people I met in my time here. Not because it was a nice house where others may not be as nice. And not because it was the best out of a bad situation - but because it humanized for me what it is to be me. There's strength and hope in that and I'm damn glad I was able to share, create, and sustain both with the men and women I met here.

Do yourself a favor - if you find yourself in a place where you need a place like sober living - run, don't walk...

I couldn’t have pictured a better place to start building a new life for myself. The houses are nice, clean, and provide an amazing network of men and women with one goal in mind, to stay sober and build a life you don’t want to escape from. I highly encourage anyone looking to change to give Db house a chance. The rules are simple, go to meetings, and clean up after yourself. The owner of Db house has a deep understanding of this disease, and is a solution oriented guy who actively participates in fellowship building events to help ensure our success, and I couldn’t be more grateful for my experience here. Quick review. The owner is one of the nicest men you’ll EVER meet! A 10 year recovering addict himself, just looking to give US a fresh start. Not in this for the money, like some other house owners are. The houses are ALL nice, the men in, at least my house are kind generous people, working the program, getting their lives back together! Each house has everything you NEED. A combined house chat is set up for everyone for meetings, events, whatever! Rides, a helping hand, encouragement. Etc…. Scale of 1-10 I give it a 9. But keep in mind, on my scale their are no 10s!! Hope to one day, shake your hand and welcome whoever is reading...
