East Wok — Restaurant in Saddle Brook

I was in the mood for Chinese food for lunch but I didn't want drive to this place because parking is always hard to get to, especially with the ongoing construction nearby. So I ordered what I like to call my "sample order" to test out the quality of the food. I ordered Beef Lo Mein and Steamed Pork Dumplings; it was about $15. It got here in about 15 minutes (I'm only about 3 minutes away), the food was hot, and everything was correct, which is great.

I started off with the dumplings. First of all, they're huge, which isn't necessarily the greatest thing in the world. The dumpling itself was way too soft, and it only took a few moments for the pork to fall out. The pork was basically just a huge chunk (I guess that's how it's usually made, idk) of meat, but the taste was kind of off. The sauce that came with it wasn't your traditional dumpling sauce; it had no salt in it (you still need a little salt for flavor). I didn't like it.

The Beef Lo Mein was pretty decent, or maybe it just tasted good compared to the dumplings. It had an even balance of beef, noodles, and vegetables. I didn't add any sauce to it because 1.) I didn't ask for any extra sauce packets, 2.) I didn't like the sauce from the dumplings. I got about 1/4 of the way through it (I got the Large size btw) until I was totally stuffed. Again, it's not exactly the greatest Lo Mein in New Jersey. I put it in the fridge; maybe I'll eat it tomorrow.

The online ordering section of the website works well except for the fact that you have to create an account in order to use online ordering. It doesn't save your credit card information, so I don't see much of a point into needing an account.

All in all, the food wasn't the greatest and, although the service was top-notch, I won't be ordering from there again. Except for the service, the only other good part about this place was their chopsticks, I haven't had any stomach problems (yet; crossing my fingers), and the fact that they gave me 3 fortune cookies (all had good fortunes in them, too). I wouldn't recommend this...

Their food is amazing but I ordered food that came to $19.50 and after taxes like 20 and change so I wanted the free soda or egg rolls but the tax doesn't count toward a free items over a certain amount ... I order from them once or twice a week and he really wouldn't do it so I had to get a soda ... They don't really appreciate the business I guess and I always top %15 or %20 never less .but other than the food is fresh and tastes great ...the price is more for the quality than quantity most places fill containers but sometimes these aren't or more veggies than meat by a decent amount sometimes would be a 5 star of that situation...

I ordered from here at LEAST once every two weeks and would spend substantial money for it being Chinese food. I placed my order online and 1 1/2 hours later, still not here. I called and after waiting 10 minutes for them to “look for it” they said oh we didn’t start it yet, you still want it it will be another 40 minutes to an hour. No, I’m sorry, nothing. Just kept saying, you want it or not. Lost a loyal long time customer and all of my family and friends that I had go there will stop too. The food isn’t THAT good for you to not pay attention to orders and have NO basic customer service skills when called. Disgrace. DO NOT GO HERE....
