Update 09-19-2024 They have continued to raise their prices. Most shirts are now $8-$12 when they used to be $3-$5. Skirts used to be $3.50 and now they’re $6-$10. Pants used to be $6.99 and now they’re $8.99-$20. Dresses used to be $7.99 and now they’re all $8.99-$15. Absolutely ridiculous. They don’t care if their items are stained or have holes either, it’s all priced ridiculously high.
This store used to be great, before they moved and expanded. When they did, all prices gradually started to raise. Keep in mind, they get this stuff for free. They don’t care if clothing has stains or holes, they’ll still price it regularly. There was a toy set that was a doctor set retaped in its box and they had the same price as retail. People come here for USED or DISCOUNTED stuff because they can’t afford retail. Some denim is marked up to $15 and shirts with new tags they get from discount stores are marked up to $20-$30. This stuff just sits there and doesn’t sell and will end up in a landfill. If people wanted to pay those prices they’d go to the mall. This is the Midwest and they think they can price things like this is the west coast. The majority of people shopping at this location are broke students and...
Read moreI used to LOVE this store. Prices were reasonable, and I could always find multiple things to take home each visit. The employees are always very nice and helpful.
Unfortunately over the past half year or so, the prices have been inflated to levels that I have not seen at any other Goodwill in the region. I visit the Lawrence and KC area stores often, and this store has started pricing their items higher than even those locations. Most tops are now priced $8.99-$9.99, where just a year or so around they were more around $6. Lawrence prices most of theirs at $6.49-$7.49. That may seem like a small difference, but it really adds up. I wish they would price more in line with all other Goodwills in the state.
Emporia does offer the 20% off with card discount on Wednesdays, and two color tag discounts every week. Unfortunately this is not usually enough to offset their inflated prices. I shop here with family members, and they too have noticed the fast rising prices. I hate to leave this review, but as a business owner, I understand how valuable feedback can be. Please consider that lowering your prices would allow you to move more inventory. After all,...
Read moreI look at this store before i go and buy new some of the clothing there (and a few other items) are walmart brand (nothing bad about walmart clothing) but they are marked the same price and sometimes even more than even walmart asks ... Just wish it was like my home town store they never price high they price to sell. The cashier i had was rude and never made eye contact. Its not that i have to shop at your store but i choose to please dont treat others as they are poor or below you just because you are working for a store. I know this may come accross as rude but you are human like everyone else on the face of earth you should treat your customers as just that, just as you would want to be treated if you were shopping there for yourself and your children. Its respect its human error that makes people uncomfortable shopping in this store every chance they get instead of the "bigger...
