Over the past year I've probably spent 3 months in this hotel. Out of all the time I have spent here I only have one complaint which is very shallow on my part. The good things about this hotel the rooms are comfortable beds are comfortable and clean you can actually control the temperature in the room and set things that are comfortable level for you. Every room I have stated in has its own coffee pot, fridge and microwave. The Continental breakfast puts all other continental breakfasts to shame. What they serve in the mornings is insulting to call it a continental breakfast. They have eggs, waffles, muffins, sausage links, bacon and any kind of cereal you would want. The coffee isn't bad, I've definitely had better but I've also had much worse. They have a nice selection of drinks for your breakfast as well including milk orange juice and apple juice. Did I also mention they have bacon! I've never brought my pet here but at each one of my stays I have seen plenty of others with their pets. Now to the best part of this hotel. The showers are amazing! As I'm writing this review I just got out of the shower. I spent an hour and a half in the shower with the massager and I never ran out of hot water. I can't even do that at home. Now for the one downside to this hotel. And this is only a downside if you're a smoker. They don't have any smoking rooms. So when you get that urge for a cigarette you have to go outside. Well that's not that big of a problem. I don't smoke inside my home anyway I always smoke outside at home as well. however the track outside is a bit of a pain because there's only one elevator in the direct center of the building and it never fails I am always on the second or third floor at one of the ends not anywhere near the elevator. But that's really the only downside. Every time my employer ask me to come and work the Kansas systems I always tell him sure but you have to put me up at the Holiday inn Express in Emporia Kansas or I won't go. So if you're traveling through Kansas and you need to stop for the night this is a good place. If you're going to be here for a visit this is still a good place. Easy access from interstate 35 and you have plenty of restaurants close by. There's also a Walmart right next door almost. Either way it's a great hotel and I just had to leave the best...
Read moreI'd like to start by saying that I will be the first one to write a great review and let supervisors know when we receive great service from individuals. I am not one of those people that finds something wrong with every stay and complains about every last little thing. This stay was different and I just had to say something.... It took 3 rooms to finally get one with the right bed and one with a heater that worked. The front to desk clerk apparently was extremely inconvenienced that he had to actually get off his phone and help me get the rooms changed. He saw me struggling to get my stuff moved each time but would just wall off and not even bother to hold a door. I have a disability and cannot carry much but he simply did not care. Thank Goodness there was a basketball team that saw me struggling and helped carry everything and get it all into my third and, thankfully, final room. I asked for a couple pillows and a blanket and you would have thought I asked him to sacrifice his first born. Needless to say, I never got them. This may be the worst service we've ever had at a holiday inn and my husband spends approximately 180 nights a year in hotels around the world. I do not normally travel with him but he wasn't too far from home so I went down to surprise him and he was still working in the plant while I was trying to get checked in. I really think of would have been treated differently if my husband would have been there. Overall, extremely disappointed and I was flat out angry with the little arrogant attitude of the desk clerk. Sorry to interrupt your personal phone time to help...
Read moreIt would be nice if the Holiday Inns would pay a bit more attention to the room bathrooms. Again, there is mold along the caulk lines in the tub. Also, while the bathroom door closed, it did not close enough for the latch to catch. Mattress is due for replacement - both of us woke up with sore backs. As usual, the staff is what saves the Holiday Inn. The breakfast area was kept clean and due to the number of diners, the staff were kept very busy making sure there was enough food for all. Now for my fellow diners. Have some courtesy for others. People were waiting on tables yet "some" people, like the table with three young ladies and one young man, they were finished eating and then just sat at the table looking at their phones. Or the young man sitting by himself. Finished with his breakfast and then sat for the next 30-40 mins looking at his phone. It is amazing that those young people have no respect for others. Now for the person(s) on the third floor. Why would you bring up a luggage cart and then leave it outside your room and not return it to the lobby. YOU would be the first person to complain if you checked in and there wasn't a luggage cart available. Fellow travelers - think of others as you travel and not just yourself. Lastly. It was raining at check-out time, and several people were attempting to bring their vehicles up under the carport. While the carport is large enough to accommodate two cars side by side, "someone" employed at the Holiday Inn had their black Chrysler Pacifica parked under the carport blocking a lane. Really? Now that's...
