Birkenstock — Local services in Encinitas

We had called in asking to exchange a pair of sandals that we had ordered online. We were told it wasn’t a problem to exchange in store, and they even checked that they had the same shoes in stock.

When we arrived, customer service was minimal, but we gave them our sandals and they came out of with a size that fit much better. It wasn’t until we were at the register that it was sprung on us that the new sandals would be an additional charge. When we asked for the equivalent model to ours, they said there weren’t any available.

I’m not as upset about the additional charge as I am about how the information was (or in this case, was not) communicated. We called and they even double checked to see if they had it in stock, then again when we went out of our way to drive to this location and tried it on they gave us the “same” pair, only to be told at checkout that it wasn’t the same and would cost more. Came to this store while visiting from out of town. This is the second shot I gave this store. Last year when I was here I knew the sandals I wanted had the 2 pairs I wanted picked out, knew my size and was just waiting for someone to acknowledge me and there were a few workers. Walked around the whole store several times and nothing so I took my money elsewhere. Came back today and again knew what we wanted, some clogs, there appeared to be only 1 person working and a gentleman wanting to try on the whole store and another gentleman who was also waiting with shoes. Best place to buy your Birkenstocks in Encinitas! Awesome selection (they also carry other great shoe brands) and the customer service here is amazing. I have called several times in the past looking for a particular shoe in specific sizes/colors and they have always been so helpful. The other day I came in for a pair of Arizonas and Alex & his team were super friendly & helped me get dialed! It was packed with people shopping but they were so quick to help everyone, including myself, find what they were looking for. Left with my new fav pair of shoes :) Can't recommend this place...
