Firstly be aware they are working with limited space, each room in the Esconitas is one singular room. Do not presume that they are easily beat simply due to this.

The size of the room did not bother me, I think what did affect my experience was the way the game masters are forced to direct the game.

Compared to the San Diego location it's a fairly glaring difference. At this location you are given a microphone and you can ask for hints. We had one person brief us, two people responded on the walkie, and a completely different person walked us out. There is no screen in the room unlike San Diego and I think the screen is way better.

In San Diego we were briefed in a room and then led to our escape room and inside we had the scream on which the game master was able to continuously give us storyline and help push us through the room only giving hints when asking, but able to add to the storyline and without giving any hints push us along.

This is not the case in the esconditas location where you only have the walkie-talkie you feel far more alone and there's very little storyline given to you to push you through the room.

I think this created the feeling of no progression in the room and seeing as how it was a singular room it added to the impression that I had no direction as to how to solve the puzzles.

Granted this may just be me in the simple fact that I go late at night when I'm really stoned so it makes it much harder to concentrate on puzzles.

Overall I'd give the difficulty and experience of the room of four and the experience of the game Masters of three unfortunately and I don't think this is due necessarily to their failing but more probably due to the company's design at that location.

I do have to say that the game Masters at the escondidas location seem more enthusiastic which is impressive seeing as how they're given less to work with.

All in all I highly recommend Red door escape rooms regardless of location because all their games are fairly challenging and extremely wild decorated with a lot of...

Red door escape room in Encinitas San Diego was AWESOME! The customer service is unbeatable!! When we walked in the front doors game masters of various rooms walked in and out of the office area and we were asked each time if someone was helping us and if our little one needed to use the restroom. Mark our game master was very friendly, funny, and incredibly helpful. As a family we were slightly concerned our son who is 9 years old would find this a little too challenging. I believe we owe it to Mark who adjusted the difficulty to make it the perfect amount of challenge: not too hard so our son didn’t get upset or frustrated and not too easy so he didn’t get bored. This escape room held his interest and kept him engaged with us! I can easily see even if it were just my husband and myself, how we would still find this escape room the perfect amount of challenge. It’s the game masters that really make this escape room! Thank you Mark for making our escape room a fun experience we will want to do as a family...

Staff were very nice and welcoming. However, it feels like there’s a bit of disorganization at the time we went and they seem distracted. We were in the middle of our puzzles when another family opened the door into our room and tried to walk in!! We had to explain to them that we’re in the middle of our session a couple of times. It broke the illusion of our mission/quest and more importantly it made us lose so much precious time. The room we were in was also way too dark; I literally can’t see much. I understand that it’s part of the world-setting, but at least have a little lamp somewhere so we can actually read and decode the clues in the book we were handed— which was a key part of solving this room’s puzzles. The A/C was broken too, so all that combined made this experience frustrating instead of fun. For our daughter’s first escape room, this was unfortunately not a good...

This was the first escape room experience for myself, my husband, 10 year old, and mother-in-law. I researched others and this seemed to have the most positive reviews. We chose the Enchantment theme. I guess we didn’t know what to expect, maybe riddles? Most of the puzzles you solve involved a number combination instead. We maxed out our clues so we didn’t escape and when the game master explained the steps involved to complete the game it seemed impossible to do in less than 45 minutes. I would go again and try another room but maybe with a different company? Either way, it was pretty entertaining and just something different to do, just a bit complicated for our group.

On behalf of my group of friends, I would like to especially give a shoutout to Selena at Red Door Encinitas (not Celine). If it wasn’t for her energy and enthusiasm unknown to mankind from the minute we stepped in, I’m not sure we would have stood a chance to defeat the Relic. Following our escape, we walked out onto the streets of Encinitas with smiles from ear to ear. Not because of our triumph, but because of Selena. I think if everybody aimed to be a little bit more like Selena, the world would be a better place.

This was such an amazing date night! Thank you to Katie, our game master, for making it an awesome experience. I had never gone to an escape room before, but this one was so clean and the effects and technology was really amazing. It was so great to interact with my wife to solve puzzles together. It was definitely more fun that a movie date night, and we’re very excited to go back to try another puzzle. Thank you, Katie and Red Room!
