Just a warning to anyone thinking about staying at this motel. Look elsewhere! Stayed one night and after I had left someone reserved the room for a second night using my credit card. Guess they don't check the identification of a customer. I even called that day to report the charge and told the staff I wasn't staying there and to check why there was a second charge to my credit card. They didn't check or stop whoever was staying in that room. And I was charged a smoking charge because they were smoking in the room. The manager hasn't returned one of my calls. This place is a mess, they bill you for extra days and a cleaning fee just for good measure. I don't smoke and neither did my guest. And we were overcharged for the room, that finishes my future association with Best Western and other motels associated with them. The room was plain and nothing to get excited about, the shower was a joke. A tiled closet with a curtain and a handicapped chair. We had two beds and a couch in the place, cold tile floors, and some crazy second-grade artwork on the walls. Paid a premium price too, $127.44 for a night. Never again will I use Best Western or recommend them to anyone. Now I have to fight them to get my money back, what a waste of my time and energy. For what it's worth, if possible go somewhere else and save yourself the headache of getting worked by this Best Western. I give the entire place a huge ZERO. I truly dislike leaving reviews like this one, it's not in anyone's best interest, but when the place deserves a poor review, then I feel vindicated in doing so. I am honest in my opinion and believe in doing the right thing. So I'll do a follow up review in a few days, and let you know how things got handled. Maybe Best Western will do the right thing and make this right for me. I hope so. REPLY: SO It's common practice that you extend a guests room without checking with them first? And for the record, I do not smoke cigarettes. I feel it's a disgusting habit that eventually kills you. I left the room that same morning, leaving the key in the room. I didn't authorized the charges for another days stay. I call and reported that my card had been charged, and I did not give my permission to use my Credit Card. I spoke to the desk clerk Sunday morning. He confirmed that some one was in that room, it wasn't me. So when I informed your staff if the situation, what was done to secure that room? And when I called a second time, I was informed again by your staff, that the person was named Roland. I never gave anyone permission to stay in that room after I left, I was not contacted for my authorization to charge the additional nights stay. Did I sign anything? Did you verify it was me, or ask me to come to the front desk to see my Credit Card and ID? Then you need to reverse the charges and the additional $150. You are scamming people, I have no idea of anyone staying in the room. And no one smoked in the room. Why didn't you call me and ask if it was me that did this before charging my Credit Card? I tried three times to speak to your manager, BJ. No one call me back. I am going to file a complaint with Best Western Corporate office and dispute the charge. And the place was a DUMP.
March 10, 2021 the extra charge that they put on my Credit Card were reversed. I only paid for the one night. You have to fight back or you get your money stolen. Do yourself a big favor and read the reviews. Look at who's writing them, and have they done more than one or two. And take the reviews to heart, I personally do not like to write poor reviews, unless it need to...
Read moreHotel looks cool, and is in a great location for what we needed, however the photos and marketing were not accurate at all. Service was also atrocious, both on site and at the corporate level.
Wife and I spent almost $1000 to stay 3 nights with our family of 4 during a 2 week long road trip. Arrived late at night, kids were asleep. check in was fine, but immediately encountered multiple issues.
The room was overall in poor condition, even after apparently having been recently renovated. The bathroom was in poor condition, with stained grouting, small mold spots on the ceiling, and a window that did not open for ventilation. Parking availability was a challenge, and many of the spots were taken by contractor trucks working on the rooms. The floor was not clean when we arrived, with sand everywhere. The room itself was very poorly furnished, with a large seating area that had 1 small sofa, a tv and 1 small desk. Nothing else, it just felt empty, and not well advertised The vending machines were poorly stocked, and of the 6 of them on site, NONE of them had water bottles available. Had to go to the store at 11pm to get drinking water for our two young girls to drink before falling asleep. Also, there was no laundry soap or coins available for doing laundry, had to go to a local laundromat, again at 11pm. It took the first two days and a call to the desk to get our room turned, and new towels. When we came back to the room, it had recently been turned, and the floor was still wet. My daughter, first in the room, slipped and hurt herself. I later went to dry the floor, and the towel i used showed how truly filthy the floor was. The advertised 'included breakfast' consisted of prepackaged small bagels, and your choice of milk or frozen orange juice cups. Nothing else. The property grounds were not clean, trash cans overflowing in all locations.
My biggest frustration, however, came when I reached out to their customer service department on 8/3/2021 to bring this to their attention, and request a refund. They responded almost 4 months later, on 10/27/2021, saying they would look into the issue. Did not hear back for another 5 months, and contacted them again on 4/4/2022 asking for an update. They responded, offering a travel voucher of $30... I thought it was a typo at first (we spent almost $1000) . They then clarified that it wasn't a typo, and "generously increased their offer to a $50 travel voucher.
This was not acceptable, in my opinion. I will not be staying here again. I encourage to be cautious with your...
Read moreI felt our stay was quite expensive for a very average 2 star experience. While the property looks incredible up on the hill with balconies facing out to look down on the quaint beach town of Encinitas (one of our favorite places), or even the namesake Moonlight Beach on one side of the hotel; the rooms and our stay were average at best. Check in experience was good, I waited hardly any time and the attendant at the front was funny and kind. She told us where to park for ease of access to our room and she was absolutely right. It made hauling all of our child gear up to the room a breeze, it only took two trips. Once in the room you noticed the echo from the barren room and walls. It looked like a suite they hadn't bothered to finish furnishing and not much thought was given to the layout. There was a pullout couch bed that blocked the entry to the bedroom half of the "suite" when it was pulled out while there was more than enough room on the other side of the empty "living room." I was a little surprised there was no refrigerator to keep our leftovers from dinner and we had to use the ice bucket to chill our anniversary champagne. Also surprisingly missing was a luggage rack of any kind. I ended up using the ironing board. I suppose this might be standard elsewhere but the sole air conditioning vent was as far as possible from the bed which led to me feeling overly warm while sleeping. The bed was fine, as were the balcony (which had a view of the freeway and grocery store parking lot), shower, and standard complimentary toiletries but the pillows seemed a lot smaller than standard size for a king-sized bed. Usually, I like to stay at Best Western because of the above average continental breakfast. This one, however, not being a Best Western plus [I guess], had only decaf coffee (they were out of caffeinated) and cereal, apples and what tasted like microwavable breakfast burritos (which weren't bad) for breakfast, rather than the toast / bagel bar and waffle makers I see at the Best Western Plus properties. I presume the cost of the property was in direct response to demand, as the place was 100% booked the night we stayed. We've spent $300 a night on much nicer properties in previous years, would stay again if the...
