I have been living with undiagnosed endo for over 25 years...at 17 I was diagnosed with suspected endo in college and thankfully started on birth control pills as a precaution...I continued to try and seek treatment and support from my providers with chronic pain daily over the years as I still faced painful periods, heavy bleeding, fatigue, constant bloating, painful intimacy, constant ups & downs with my emotions, challenges with physical activity and more recently fertility issues and work challenges as my symptoms immediately worsened once I came off of birth control when I got married 2 years ago...I was having to always walk around with meds and extra clothes and menstrual supplies even when I wasn't menstruating...at times I was too tired to even drive to or from work and would have to be picked up by my husband...in April of this year I ended up in the hospital as a result of 2 fibroids that had developed...the only support I ever received over the years was stronger medication, the encouragement to get pregnant and also to continue taking birth control...nobody ever informed me of pelvic floor therapy or pelvic rehabilitation medicine and specialists that existed to treat my condition...I simply accepted this was my life...and made the best of it...with a smile on my face and a pep in my step nobody ever knew what I was living with every day...when I stopped the birth control and started addressing the hormonal challenges I faced with that, I was pointed in the direction of a women's health clinic that educated me on all sorts of options for the long term effects of birth control as well as methods to help me manage my endo...one of those modalities was pelvic floor physical therapy and it was through my therapist that I was connected to Dr. Bagaria and immediately scheduled a consultation that changed my life on Apr 23rd of this year...I was finally heard & seen and someone wanted to help me...I had my endo excision surgery on June 12th, finally received treatment and diagnosis and am 124 days post op 46 days post my final pelvic floor nerve block and have had days and sometimes weeks of NO pain...on days I do have pain, deep breathing exercises, reminding my body I am safe and healthy, and heat help...when I do experience pain it is no more than a 1 or 2 where I was living with a pain of 6 or greater on an average day...I have not needed any pain meds since my final nerve block...this journey has felt impossible on many days with all of the obstacles, lifestyle changes & modifications, physical therapy appointments and at home therapies & treatments, work with my therapist to address all of the deeply buried emotions of grief & loss, my resentment towards my body...I am now living and learning to love my body again...enjoying a pain free intimate relationship with my husband...after so many years of chronic pain...I don't know how I would have gotten here without fighting and advocating for all of those years until I was finally seen, and someone cared enough to listen and lend me a hand...I have so much gratitude and love in my heart for my pelvic floor physical therapy team, Dr. Bagaria, Jessica & the Pelvic Rehabilition team, the surgical team, my family, friends & colleagues who have given me non-stop support throughout the years...this is a lifelong journey, but I am embracing it and learning to keep my body strong, healthy & happy along the way...I cannot speak for everyone living with endo...I wish you all the very best each and every day as you find your way...this is my story, my body, my journey...and I am so thankful to be...
Read moreI recently had my first experience with Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine at Englewood location , and it has been life-changing. Here's a summary of my journey:
From the outset, the initial consultation was thorough and compassionate. The medical professional by Jessica Ray took the time to understand my symptoms, medical history, and personal concerns, which established a foundation of trust.
The development of a personalized treatment plan was exceptional. The therapist clearly explained the causes of my symptoms and laid out a step-by-step approach to my rehabilitation, adjusting the plan as needed based on my progress.
I was educated about the anatomy of the pelvic floor, the importance of posture, and lifestyle modifications to support my recovery. This holistic approach addressed both physical and emotional aspects, greatly contributing to my overall well-being.
I highly recommend Pelvic Rehabilitation Medicine for anyone considering pelvic rehabilitation. The professionalism, empathy, and effectiveness of the treatment have led to meaningful and lasting improvements in my health.
Thank you to the entire team for your...
Read moreThis review is long overdue! My experience at both of the locations I have been were nothing short of amazing. Dr. Vyas was great and she managed my care for over a year. I was at my Witts end the first time we met. I had had excision surgery with Dr. Liu (also great experience) and my pain had returned a couple months after the procedure. After Dr. Vyas convinced me to try some medication my symptoms improved dramatically. I couldn't believe I walked around in that much pain for so long. She took time. to answer all my questions and was dedicated to finding the right treatment if one of them didn't work. I also felt heard, not judged or rushed and knew I could reach out in between appointments if I needed anything. I am relocating to ATL, so it Is bittersweet, but I trust the providers there will carry on the high quality care I received here in Englewood. The office staff was also kind Abby and Kristel the medical assistant. Kindness after years of misdiagnosis and medical gaslighting is really what I needed....
