I was spending around $2,000/month at Nellis Auction (Mesa & Phoenix). I finally deleted my account because the same thing kept happening over and overâand customers eat the cost every time.
What I keep running into (multiple instances):
Items advertised as â5-Starâ show up broken, incomplete, or barely working.
Refunds crawl: â3â5 business days to processâ plus â3â5 business days to credit.â
Tickets get marked âresolvedâ while the money isnât back yet; Iâve had to chase refunds to see them.
Relist happens fast: I return today, I see the same item back up tomorrowânow downgraded to âdamagedâ or âparts missing.â So the system moves at lightning speed when it benefits them, and snail speed when it should pay the customer back. Iâve seen refunds take 8+ days unless I follow upârepeatedly.
While funds are tied up, I canât pay for other winsâaccount penalties hit because their delay blocked my payment.
Add in gas, time, and sometimes truck/U-Haul rentals to pick up and then return defective goodsâthose costs land on the buyer, not Nellis.
And when a buyer canât return (itâs too far, not worth a rental, or time is tight), Nellis keeps the full, inflated payment on an item that never matched â5-Starâ in the first place.
Ratings versus reality: On 8/18/25, I personally received a message from Damien Mingarelli (Marketing Director) offering $5 credit for posting a Google review. No disclosure. To me, that explains how the star rating stays shiny while so many real experiences look like mine.
From where I sit, this isnât random warehouse noiseâitâs a repeatable loop shaped by leadership:
Spencer Chupinsky (CEO) â sets the â5-Starâ narrative and culture customers rely on.
Tucker Morgan (COO) â oversees operations where defective items still reach customers and get relisted before refunds clear.
Kevin Horton (CFO) â manages refund timelines and practices that hold customer funds while buyers have no product.
Damien Mingarelli (Marketing Director) â runs review-incentive pushes that keep ratings high without telling the whole story.
How it plays out, again and again:
List it â5-Star.â
Buyer overpays based on the label.
Buyer discovers defects/missing parts.
Return starts, refund drags (unless chased).
Same item relisted fast with new wording.
Some buyers donât return (distance/cost), and Nellis keeps the full payment.
Ratings stay padded by incentivized reviews.
Iâm in touch with other frequent buyers seeing the same pattern. Weâre documenting experiences and filing complaints. This isnât about one order; itâs a pattern across many.
If this happens to you, hereâs what helps:
Document everything: screenshots of the listing (showing â5-Starâ), item/receipt #s, pickup/return dates, dock receipts, photos/video of defects, support messages, and actual bank posting dates.
File complaints (it creates a record): ⢠BBB (public) ⢠FTC â deceptive endorsements/ratings: reportfraud.ftc.gov ⢠Arizona AG (if AZ transaction): azag.gov/complaints ⢠Nevada AG (HQ jurisdiction): ag.nv.gov
Report rating incentives to Googleâs Business Profile Redressal (for induced reviews).
If a refund isnât posted within 7 days of return, start a chargeback with your card issuer and attach your proof.

Bottom line: based on my experience across multiple purchases, Nellis hasnât just âdropped the ball.â Theyâve built a loop where the company moves fast when it profits and slow when it pays, and the buyer carries the time, cost, and stress.
At the end of the day, it feels like this: Nellis keeps the stars, customers...
Read moreI recently moved to the Vegas area and in need of some household items to furnish the new place. I had heard several people talking about Nellis Auctions but did not pay much attention as my previous experience with auctions was basically a waste of time and money.
Late night I decided to check it out and googled them. Much to my absolute surprise, this auction was easy to register for, had very low fees, no reserve and a reasonable buys premium.
What was even more exciting was the variety of items, the price point and the frequency/duration of the sales. Everything from household goods to electronics, furniture and even freakin musical instruments were available to bid on 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
I registered in less than 5 mins and was off to the bidding in 10 minutesat most. The items i saw as I scolled down literallly got my heart racing. I am not much of a gambler(thank God), but the thrill of the bidding (AND ACTUALLY WINNING SOMETHING USEFUL AND TANGIBLE)got my.blood.pumping. After winning a lot, I was unnecessarily intimidated by what the pick up process might be. Once again to my surprise and shock, the process.turned out to be painless. I followed the instructions and scheduled a time for pick up at the dean Martin Drive location. Despite the traffick, the whole n process was painless and I didn't even have to get out of my car. I parked, scanned the QR code on the parking stalls numbered sign and in less than 5 min a polite and courteous attendant arrived carbide with my items which they loaded into the trunk as requested. I exited the parking lot with excitement.
Giddy with excitement , I could not wait to check out my new items. I pulled over and opened the my packages right there on the roadside. It was like like Christmas for adults.
I highly recommend Nellis Auctions and particularly the ez pick-up process at rhe Dean Martin...
Read moreAfter living in the Las Vegas area for several years, it was just 9 months ago that a friend made me aware of Nellis Auctions, and yes, I was a little hesitant/suspicious at-first, but now that I've won many auctions (& lost some too...), I can confidently recommend them as being legit. It's up to you to do your research on the item -- if it's a cheap/poor-quality item made in some chinese sweatshop, that's your responsibility to know, it's not Nellis Auctions trying to deceive you, but regardless, unless you get caught-up in a major bidding-war, you're getting the item for much less than what it originally sold-for. Having stated-that, by familiarizing myself with the make/model of the item I'm interested-in, I set a bid strategy and either win the item for a great price, or someone-else wins it for a little more than I'm comfortable paying for it. The pick-up process is really amazing -- you pull up & park (during certain hours, the parking lot area is pretty congested) & simply sit in your car. Within a minute or two, a very friendly representative comes to your car, you give them your phone # & they immediately pull-up your item(s) on a database, then go get it & bring it back to your car -- total time is usually around 3 minutes, because as part of the pick-up process, you've given them an estimated time-window for pick-up. Perhaps it's luck, but out of about 15 items I've won, none turned-out to be damaged or broken. I'm a very happy customer, that's saved a lot of $$ on products, thanks to...
