Let me preface this review with two things:
I like the USPS carriers that deliver. They are nice, kind, and always on time.
This is specifically for the Ephrata PA post office building, the front counter workers.
I have a business in Ephrata, and about twice a month, for some reason, a package is un-deliverable to me, so I get that beautiful orange slip that says 'come pick it up from us tomorrow'. Although it's annoying, that's not my problem.
It's the service inside the post office. Not ONE single time have I ever seen more than one person working the front register. Almost every single time I go in, there are more than 4, if not 8 or 10 people in line. Sometimes I honestly just have to walk out and try another day, because the line is so long, it's taking so long, and for some reason, they can't call someone else.
The ONLY time I ever go in is to pick up a package. There should be some sort of a line, some sort of a quick pickup thing. I don't want to wait 15 minutes in line to pick up a package that should have been delivered yesterday.
The employees are not friendly. I don't expect much because they work for the government, but they they're simply, at best, OK. I will end this review with an experience from my brother.
He ordered some comic books online. The person shipped via Media Mail. Apparently this is a no-go, and comic books should be shipped some other way. That's fine and all, but has NOTHING to do with the person PICKING IT UP.
He went in to pick up the package. First of all, the post office charged him the difference that it would have cost to send it priority mail instead of media mail. This is... somewhat understandable, but should be picked up by the SENDER. The part that blew both our minds is that the lady working (this particular incident was at the Denver PA post office) pulled out a little slip that said what was allowed to be sent Media Mail, and essentially made him read it out loud, and highlight the part that says 'no comic books'
We are NOT 8 years old, and we were NOT the senders. We did NOT send the comic books, we were just picking them up. To be treated like an 8 year old is beyond anything I can imagine. I dislike almost everything about USPS, except...
Read moreI was expecting a package, and when I walked up to our bank of shared mailboxes, I found a parcel locker key, lying on the ground in front of them. Since I was expecting something, I checked the parcel locker, and found that the package was not for me. ANYONE could have found that key, and stolen the package that was inside! I'm glad it was me, who found it, so I could deliver the package to the correct home. I tried to call the Post Office, but nobody ever answers the phone there. When did our Federal Mail Delivery System become so irresponsible, complacent, and unreliable? They demand higher prices for stamps, because more and more people are turning to other mail delivery options. Is it any wonder why? I should be getting paid, for every package, and letter, I have redirected in my small community! I don't understand how this is such a difficult job... Read the address properly, and make sure ALL the mail gets delivered properly. Make sure keys are put in the proper places, and not dropped anywhere where anyone can find them. I get that you want to hurry, so you can go home, but you cannot neglect your job, and expect people to pay more, for...
Read moreThis is the worst post office I have ever dealt with! If I could.. I would rate no stars! I had a package to ship. But was out of tape. I figured, no big deal. I will put it on at post office.when I got ther and stood in line and waited for about 20mins! It was finally my turn. when I asked the lady if she could put some tape on it for me.... I got the dirtiest look!! as if I was crazy. then was told we don't do that!! come on. can't even put tape on my pakage?? my buddy that was shipping to me that day. I told him about it. and he told me that his post office helped package his and put tape on!! I could not believe it!! This post office is so rude! also should have mire than one person working behind counter when so busy. Not everyone has that much time, or patience! This place really needs...
