La Promesa Restaurant — Restaurant in Ephrata

Tried this place a couple times and enjoyed the pupusas. However, they don't offer take out menus and the online menu they have is all over the place. They have on the menu tostadas, but the picture for that item is toast. I got a good laugh out of that. Not what you would think of a traditional tostada to be. I mean it's toast! The hours they have listed are wrong. It seems they close when they want and not the hours they have listed. We called for a take out order at 8:45 on a Saturday night, and the girl who answered said they closed at 8 not at 10 as they state on line. The last time I called in an order (the following Saturday around 7:30pm) it took about 20 times for the phone to ring to get an answer! Then the girl just hung up after taking my order, not giving me a number or a total or a time frame! It took almost 40 minutes for our order, mind you it is not busy in the least. I live within a 5 minute walk and had friends in town so I suggested this new place because it just opened. We ordered our food. About 20 minutes later our drinks came. And first let me add that it wasn't busy. There was a small family at another table waiting as well. After over an hour of waiting my companions gave up. There was never an explanation. The teenagers at the register mostly stood there staring at the customers and not speaking. Maybe they felt bad. I still spent over $11 for drinks we didn't bother finish because we went across the street to the italian/spanish restaurant and were pleased. First time my wife and I went there with another couple. Young waitress sheepishly took our order. Waited about 40 minutes for the food but was missing 1 item on our friends plate. Older woman said not quite done but will be right out. It arrived and we started to eat. Oh my, the food was hot and delicious! We each enjoyed our meal together. Young waitress stopped by several times to ask if we needed anything and explained where to pay the check. They made a mistake on both checks fixed them graciously. I definitely will go there again!
