There is a lot of hardware stores out there like Home depot, Lowes, Tractor supply co but what Essex hardware has that they don't is a real hard working staff who will brake there backs to get you just what you need and make your hardware dreams come true. The Van Halen of hardware if you ask me. Place is 10 out of 10 in my book a real juggernaut. The owner Jay is always there to keep everyone in place and there is no messing around there workers are held to a high standard and if that is not met you get tossed. thats what I call a real American Business man. Just for some advice. The employe Aaron there is the best and thats a fact always seems to get me what I need to get the job done!!! Thankful to have this shop in the area. This place seems to have everything and the crew working there is always knowledgeable and helpful. Having this hardware store nearby has been a lifesaver over the years and it is so much more pleasant than going to HD/Lowe's. I saw others comment on their prices being high but I have actually found hardware here that was cheaper than the big stores. Even if the prices are a little higher on some items I'm happy to pay a little more to support a local small business, save myself some driving time, and receive great service and recommendations from folks who know what they are...

I was sold an 80 dollar gallon of green paint that I was told would be good enough for one coat for a very small office. It clearly needed 3 coats at least. I went back after using the entire first gallon. I understand green paint is harder to cover with. But they also knew what color it was when they made it and told me one coat would suffice. Made zero effort to rectify the situation or even offer a modest discount on a second gallon. That was my first and last time shopping there.
