Animal Records is a GEM located in the middle of Evanston !!! It’s the perfect place for vinyl lovers. Greg, the owner, is charismatic, friendly and he boasts an impressive selection of new and used records across all genres. Aiden, the most knowledgeable of staff members, is passionate about music and is ready to help you find that elusive album. Animal Records has a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for browsing through the bins . Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting out, Animal has something for everyone. I find myself spending hours in the store flipping thru the bins snacking on animal crackers. They have juice boxes too!! There’s a very mellow vibe in the shop and I have met several new music buddies. Regardless of the genre(s) of music you are into, Animal Records won’t disappoint. The prices are super fair and the place is FUN !! I’ve heard live music there , entered into raffles to get free tickets for shows at Space !! Great merch .. great tshirts ! They also have gift cards for purchase. ( perfect for the holidays ). Patronize this place. You...
Read moreNot for me. I’ve tried three times and didn’t buy anything. It’s nice to have another record store in Evanston. But, records are really overpriced. Really. For example, they had Kendrick’s GNX for $47.99. And it was not the independent record store blue vinyl. It’s a nice looking shop and the dog is cute and people who work there are nice. I know this sounds weird, but the music is too loud to focus. It’s overtly loud so you can’t even think straight and then the owner is already a loud talker so trying to browse while he’s loudly talking over the music, for me, was sensory overload. oh well, best of...
Read moreVinyl is cool. Take it from someone who owns way tooooo many LPs. Animal Records is a great place to go if you are building your record collection or perhaps you have a few records that you no longer listen to. At this point, I would rather have five great albums than 100 that I no longer listen to. The vibe at Animal Records is just right. The staff is very helpful. Best of all, you are bound to meet some folks, who love music, and can give you some great advice. Or, maybe it is you handing out the advice. They have an endless supply of lp's, 45's, cassettes and cd's. You are bound to find something that you didn’t even know you needed. Take it from Tall Paul, stop by Animal Records...
