Itâs been a year and a half since purchasing my bed frame and mattress. Weâll start with the good things first. The bed frame is beautiful, solid wood and itâs truly a statement piece. Bed slats are made of very thick wood which will (hopefully) never break. Delivery was quick, not next day like advertised but within a week. Good enough. Now, on to the disappoints since I spent a good chunk of money on this bed. While hauling away the old furniture, the crew put a nice hole in my drywall when the door fell and they didnât catch it. Offered to fix it which my husband agreed to but in the end made it sound like it would be unpaid on their part so we graciously said we would take care of it. The mattress which was $1000 (including box springs) wasâŚ. Not comfortable. Iâve been way more pleased with the bed in a box at 1/5th of the cost. Thatâs fine, weâll just get some memory foam to put over it. Go to sleep that night, holy squeaks out of the bed frame. They did offer to have their repair man to come out and fix it but at the time my husband was on night shift and I didnât want to interrupt his sleep more than it had already been interrupted with the delivery. Some tightening of the screws every few weeks fixed it up. Fast forward to this month, a year and a half later, the mattress is broken in enough to where we can take the memory foam off. Yay!!⌠until 2am last night when we were in the middle of a deep sleep and the loudest bang and sensation of falling made me jump out of my skin. The corner of our bed was on the floor! The thick wood slates didnât break, the solid wood didnât buckle but the tiny 3 screws holding that side of the bed up, had broken off at the head!! 12 tiny screws hold this entire gigantic heavy bed up. No wonder it broke! Thankfully it was a semi easy fix for my husband but not after I had a completely sleepless night from the crash. So here I am, writing this running on 2 hours of sleep writing a list of things wrong with this bed that was $2600 and âgood qualityâ. Our bed from Ashleyâs and Wayfair that looked like a strong gust could blow them over held out for longer than this one and for 1/10th of the cost. Overall: the store is a nice concept. You feel good about your purchase in the story. Buying quality, local furniture. Really an investment piece that will last for years only to be very disappointed as time goes on. I will update this review if the company reaches out. Thank you for reading.
Update: 2/3/2024
UPDATED FROM 3 stars to 1 star!
Bed broke yet again on the other side! Thankfully this time we were already awake! The wood piece holding ALL of the wooden slates up had ONE screw and that rest were flimsy nails!! Yet again, everything is made of wood but the parts keeping it together are TRASH.
I do not want the company to fix it because I donât trust then! My husband will yet again fix this âGREAT QUALITYâ bed when our one from Ashely furniture NEVER broke!
DO NOT...
Read moreAt last, I can get a full nightâs rest without getting a sore back.
Sometime around age 60 I began to have trouble getting a full nightâs sleep. After 5 or 6 hours in bed, my back would start to ache. I thought it must be the 15-year-old mattress I was sleeping on. So I went out and bought a new one. I chose a pillow top option. But it didnât help. I was out a good deal of money and too embarrassed to admit that I had made a bad purchasing decision. So I just lived with my choiceâand my sore back. Fast forward a few years. Back still aching, I decided to make another foray into the world of mattresses. Simplicity opened near my home, and I heard they carried beds. So I stopped in. I explained my plight to the owner. He asked about my sleep habits (Iâm a side sleeper) and about my physical condition (I am normal weight and in fairly decent shape, but I do suffer from plantar fasciitis). He seemed to take a sincere interest in solving my sleep problem from a scientific perspective. He let me stretch out on a variety of mattresses in the store. They all felt pretty good. But I said I couldnât know for sure unless I spent the night on one. No worries, he said, weâll bring the mattress out and you can sleep on it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes. So his guys delivered it and set it up (good crewâextremely courteous and careful) and hauled my old mattress away. I was optimistic. But after a few nights, I could see no improvement in my situation. I slept on the mattress for a full two weeks to see if things might âget better,â but they didnât. So I went back to the store. This time the owner conferred with one of his associates, Mark, who apparently has helped guys like me in similar situations. He said my problem was likely not the mattress, but the contour of my bed. My best bet would be an adjustable bed to go under the mattressâit would allow me to change the angle of the head and feet. I thought, what have I got to lose? So the crew brought out an adjustable bed and set it up. Itâs essentially a steel frame with little motorsâyou adjust the angles using a remote control. That first night, I elevated both the head and the feet a little, creating a sort of saucer contour. It worked. It was the first night in what seems like forever that I slept a full eight hours without getting a backache. Iâve had my new bed about a month now, and Iâve been sleeping soundly every night and waking up refreshed...
Read moreNever have a felt more uncomfortable in a furniture store a day in my life. Please donât treat other customers the way that I was treated. Long story short Iâve been on a mission since arriving to town from Nashville, TN to get my mother a cheaper memory foam mattress. After being referred to this store I figured it was worth a shot to possibly find the right deal. As I entered the store I was greeted by two gentlemen, one being older while the other one was a bit younger. The older gentleman asked how we were doing and if there was anything specific that we were looking for, I responded a mattress and couple other thing as a matter of fact. He said oh a mattress, what price range are we thinking? I replied by saying that I was on a budget and would like to stay around the $200 range (willing to spend a little more if the right deal presented itself) and the older man quickly replies by laughing out loud saying $200??!! HA we canât even get them to fire up the machine for that.. $200 hahaha as he continues to make me feel uncomfortable by basically laughing in my face. As I felt it was better that I walked through the store then exit the place I could clearly hear him laughing and telling all his coworkers âyou wonât believe this, someone out there wants a memory foam mattress for $200â continuing to make a joke of it. As Iâm approaching the door to leave after being belittled the younger sales associate (who was friendly the entire time and could sense the uncomfortableness) came up to me saying they did not have one that cheap but could work something out for $300... let this be a quick sales lesson: never treat a customer the way I was treated first off and never make their business feel unwelcome especially if you have a deal even close to the wanted price range. I was glad that I found Overstock furniture located right down the road in donut banks parking lot who made my business feel welcomed. Do better Simplicity furniture, at least for the people...
