$50 worth of tickets, estimated $60 at concession. Saturday, June 22nd. 10:05PM showing for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I was a little irritated with how the place looked; the floor was disgusting, the fountain drink machines were nasty. We get into the theater and I was stunned by the new seats. By far the best seating I have seen for a showing. Reclining leather with foot prop, and plenty of room for others to move about. So don't get me wrong, a lot of good came from the money spent. I give only two stars due to managements ability to handle a well known rule: No cell phones during the showings. Now, I do havr an understanding that there will be that one person who just can't gather the right intel to comprehend this. But not to worry, management will handle it right? Wrong! The gentleman was on his phone for the entirety of the movie, and a good 30 minutes of the movie was recieving well noticeable notifications that can be heard almost on the opposite end of the row. So, instead of interrupting my time, I asked politely for the gentleman to turn it off. Naturally I was laughed at. So I went to get management, attempting to be an adult. Before temporarily leaving the movie I had turned to insure that, even during a well lit scene, the gentleman could still be easily spotted by the bright light on his face but regardless still notified management of the row and location in the row. Management proceeded to walk about 1/3 of the way up, scan the crowd and do the same on the other side. I even waved at him and pointed at the gentleman, and nothing. He just left. I will more than likely not be returning to Showplace East which I find depressing only because I was excited to experience the new seating and...
Read moreMy wife and I were from out of town and decided to see Skyscraper before dinner. First, the young man at the ticket table really didn't understand that everyone is not from this area so he didn't provide any information about royal suite(dinner and movie). There were no menus available before actually entering the theatre and he was unable to provide at least a small variety of what is offered. We purchase our tickets, saw the menu, pricing was way too high. I understand food pricing to a certain degree but 5 dollars for a drink each plus an actual meal is at the least 9.85. Tickets, food, plus soft drink for two people is about 50 dollars at least. I'm from Chicago, and we have an establishment like this. At the least for two people, the price is close to maybe 30 dollars with the same variety of food(burgers, fries, wings, appetizers, etc.) So, we decide to just go watch the movie in the normal theater. The normal theater had an awful smell but for some its bearable. At some point, some teenagers were literally smoking in the theater and a older gentleman reported to someone who works out front. NO ONE CAME IN TO CHECK ON IT. They did it again, and it was reported again. No one stopped in. So after the movie, I questioned the ticket checker and the response I received was, "I just got in but since the movie is over, there isn't much that can be done." On the way out, the teenagers who were smoking was laughing with who I'm guessing is a friend and he bragged about watching such an "epic movie and being stoned." Not the best...
Read moreThe movie was fine. The overall experience was not. We bought tickets on line thinking we could bypass the box office, get our overpriced snacks and head to theater. Apparently the process had changed since I was last at this location And when we got the the snack counter we learned that we did have to wait in line at the box office to place the snack order then come back and pick it up at the counter. I'm not a theater manager but this made zero sense to me. So we went and stood in line with about 13 other confused people buying tickets ans figuring out the process. All the while I could see about 6 employees standing behind the snack counter waiting for something to do. Once we got past this part with our snacks we saw that the place was an absolute mess. The was no ice in one of the drink machines and there was popcorn and butter topping all over the counter. You couldn't put anything down on the counter for fear of it coming away a greasy mess. The floor was dirty in many places and there was popcorn everywhere. Same for the bathroom. The theater itself seemed fine however. I've been coming to this location for many many years and I am not sure I've seen it in such sad shape or as disorganized. I hope it improves. For what it is worth the pictures here are a fraction of the issue but I posted them because this is what it looked like before and...
