Fairfax Market — Local services in Fairfax

In addition to being a fairly short drive from Sleepy Hollow, the selection of groceries is very much what I need. Their prices are reasonable, sometimes quite good. Some things are better than others in the fresh foods section, so care is required making selections. Often very fresh produce and meats are available from local farmers. The pastry section is hard to pass without buying something. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Parking is convenient, just off Sir Francis Drake Blvd. The store is not so large as to be overwhelming, but big enough to have almost everything I need. I came into the market Sunday to pick up a snack and left my wallet on a check-out counter. Didn't notice it was gone until the next morning. I called the market and, yes it was there. Asking if they wanted me to come and get it personally (I live in Walnut Creek and it would have been a distance to drive) or if they could mail it to me, they said they'd mail it and told me not worry about the cost of the stamps. Great staff, always helpful, the produce supplier is the same as Good Earth and they are also supplied superior produce from a local Bolinas Farm. If you like deli goods, fresh sushi made before your very eyes this is the place to go. I would give Fairfax Market 5 stars but...many prices higher than at other stores. But if you like a family run place, shopping local and not coorporate, then the few dollars are worth the trip. I'm a Fairfax resident for 28 years and this market has only gotten better and better.
