Airsoft 99 — Local services in Fairfield

First and foremost, I want to say that the owner of this store comes off as very friendly and helpful, as one would expect of a proprietor so long as they think you will buy something.

That said, you must acknowledge that this is an airsoft retailer set up INSIDE A SHOPPING MALL. So, expect to see marked up "mall prices," especially for the airsoft replicas. This is to be expected from most small retailers in a mall.

If you're new to airsoft and don't know any better, a lot (or all) of the merchandise will indeed look cool and amazing, much like they did to me when I was new. However, on my last visit in late 2023, I still only saw low to mid-range (budget) models on sale. Many are quite decent models, especially for casual and/or new players; however, the markup on them makes for a bad purchase. As others have pointed out, many are marked up as much as (if not more) than $100 what you'd find at typical airsoft retailers (online as well as brick-n-mortar).

This pricing makes sense for the store location. However, I would advise any potential customer to first browse and figure out candidates for purchase. Then leave and do some research, either in the mall or at home. If you decide you'd prefer to buy locally and support this store despite the markup, go for it. I've heard only good things about this store's post-purchase experience. Just be sure that in your research, you look up reviews of the replicas you're interested in so that you don't end up buying an overpriced piece of junk when you could've paid the same price for something considerably better, whether that's at Airsoft 99 or at another retailer. Do expect a little sales pressure from the shopkeeper if they sense you may be walking out without a purchase, though. It's not as bad as a cliche used car salesman, but it's obvious to anyone with any sense...but it's their job.

NOTE: Amazon won't ship airsoft products to California, so it doesn't matter what it costs there if you can't get it...

My son and I just bought our second gun from Airsoft 99, an ASL Valken M4. We also bought a sight and a battery. The first gun we bought from there is a Hi-Capa green gas blowback pistol, and six months later it is still working great. One guy owns and runs this store- I don't think he has any employees. Yes, the prices on the stickers are higher than Amazon or Evike for the same gun, but he will bargain a little and get close to the Amazon price (I compared the total price with tax and shipping). The price on the battery and sight is about the same as Amazon. But I strongly feel that paying a little extra is worth it because we have gotten personal support for free. About four months after the first purchase of the pistol, the gas charged magazine started leaking. The Airsoft 99 owner was kind, patient and professional- he showed us how to remove a cover, tighten a screw, and fix it, as he fixed three mags and didn't even charge us. We didn't buy anything on that trip either. In the meantime, we bought a single shot bolt action airsoft rifle from Amazon. It arrived as a slightly different model than the one we ordered, scratched slightly like it was a returned item, with a loose stock that required a trip to the hardware store for the right bolt. Then it didn't even shoot straight!!!- bb's would curve about a foot to the left at 30 yards. So, without any personal store service, our only option was to return it via Amazon and hope we get full credit. So I highly recommend buying airsoft guns from a reputable local store like Airsoft 99, or another store closer to you if you don't live near Fairfield. The extra support, and ability to inspect the gun before you pay for it, is more than worth the potential wasted...

Drove almost 2hrs to come grab a gun I was told they have in stock. Google messages attached. When I arrived, they not only didn't have the very specific gun I asked about, but didn't even have a single gun from that brand in stock.
