I live near this stop and shop but I really try to not go here just because its dirty and I always get bad customer service. The stop and shop by the circle is better. Its better maintained and management always seems to be around. With this one, the managers never seem like they are monitoring the employees. I have had employees not pay attention, ignore my needs. I even had one employee FLIRT with another which caused me to have to wait in line for them to stop. Most of them are unprofessional and should not be in customer service. I have had cashiers give me attitude, shove receipts in my face. One of them didnt bother asking me if I needed a bag despite the fact that I had multiple items. I will be calling corporate on these issues because its disgusting. It is really an inconvenience for me to have to drive across town to avoid getting criticized for buying chips. Please clean this place up. Its literally falling a part.
May I add another thought? CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXTREMELY RUDE. I have been trying to get a hold of the general manager and every time I call these people I either get into an argument with them (because they won't listen) or they talk over me. Just now I had one lady tell me to calm down. I am calm... it's you that's impatient. Now I have to call corporate yet again regarding this location. This is exactly why I stopped going here. Read moreI’ve been shopping at this location for almost 10 years and it has always been the Stop & Shop with which I am most comfortable. I know the store layout pretty well and I can grab what I need getting in and out without a fuss. Lately, however, the quality of service here seems to be declining. I’m not sure if there is an effort to save money, but management appears to be using manpower for only certain jobs and limiting the number of cashiers at registers. Now when I come in on weekdays around 4-5 when people are getting off work, I notice one human run register and maybe 4 self checkout registers with lines of irritated customers and though there are typically 1-2 employees nearby assigned to tedious tasks, I no longer hear the comfort of a manager’s voice on the store speaker requesting more cashiers to relieve the lines.
I began typing this last night (Friday night) as I stood in the self checkout line with a cart full of groceries, waiting for the woman ahead of me who also appeared to have done her shopping for the coming week. I watched as two employees nearby engaged in banter and casually unloaded boxes of snacks and apparel to the racks in the next empty register lane. Not one thought to help the woman bag her groceries as they heard the register demand she stop scanning and bag. I considered abandoning my cart behind her so that I could go up and bag for her while she scanned but I decided to start writing this review instead. I recently returned with 2 items expired, only one of them I couldn't find the receipt for and Yvette treated me like as if I stole it and said company policy couldn't exchange it. I could understand if I was a serial returner, but no, I shop here multiple times a week, never return anything and showed up with a receipt for the accompanying item so obviously the other one was lost or misplaced. If you dont know when to appropriately make adjustments to serve your community and your regular customers, you shouldn't then be a manager. It's bad enough that the majority of your employees are always miserable, a reflection of the working conditions you provide, now to deal with this, a manager who doesn't know how to properly manage or maintain customer retainage and worse to treat a customer like there's something wrong with them for being a human and losing a receipt. Perhaps manage your stock better and these issues wouldn't arise. For anyone reading this review, there's a Shoprite and Trader Joe's and Aldi right nearby, Shoprite is open as late as Stop & Shop and they're so much nicer there.
