I give this diner NO stars! but unfortunately, I have to give it a star. For the 1st time since COVID -19 began we finally decided to go get some brunch for our anniversary. We came to CT to see a house almost 4 years ago and this Diner was the first place we visited when decided to take the house, it is such a bummer this happened. The atmosphere was great. Our appetizer was great, there is was no complain about the food. However, when we received our main plate. We took a 1-2 bites and realize the rim of the plate was completely dirty. There was old residue from past food on the rim and it was on all 3 plates. It was disgusting! we call for service and the waiter brought the manager. As we are telling him about our dirty plates, he insisted it was our fingers from us touching it. We reassure him that it was not. He told us that it wasn't his issue because the plates doesn't get hand washed but go through a dish steamer. We asked him if we could please get clean plates and we don't mind switching out our food to a clean plate. He told us we needed to pay for 2nd plate, which it made no sense when we told him that there was NO issue with the food, just the plate. He immediately denied our request and walked away from us. We walked up to the check out desk and he demanded us to pay for the entire food that we did barely touched. We called 911 for help. We wanted to wait outside and he storms out to follow us and gets in my husband's face demanding us to pay!! During COVID we found that a threat! He didn't respect protocols. Still with police being there he demanded that we paid $35.00 for 1 appetizer and 3 side salads that came with our meals! and asked that we never came to the diner again. Even the policemen looked very disappointed and unsatisfied with his request. This manager should not be working there, He was rude, unprofessional, & careless! I really hope anyone who reads this review will reconsider this place! What happen to "customers always right" or at least meet our accommodations, we are paying...
Read moreI was brought a menu and was served water ONCE and that's it! .... The waiter Sharif came over and took my meal order. He did not ask if I wanted anything to drink. He took the order and left. I sent back the Tilapia to take off the yellow sauce that covered a very small piece of fish and by the time the fish came out again, I had finished the vegetables. I said they could take the yellow sauce off or just bring it back. I waited, the waiter did not come back and let me know they were making 2 other small pieces of fish. The chef was quick and got it out in about 5 minutes but I didn't know what was going on.
I was there for about 45 minutes. Drank my water and no one ever came to refill the glass. The waiter came by and put down a crumpled bill and asked if there was anything else. I wanted a coffee, but decided I could get better service somewhere else or at home! They had about 20 people in the place and it was dinnertime on a Friday night 5:45 PM. Does it tell you something?? Food is over priced, service of one person is POOR, menu is a book which I was not going to read. The smaller portion 4-6 menu had 5 out of 6 pasta dishes. They gave about 2 cups of mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup pickled beets (they were good), and a rather large salad. Oh yes, they sent a dirty steak knife with the fish (and I am glad I didn't have to use it). I noted that to the cleanup person who just shrugged. They need Restaurant Impossible to come in and fix up the menu and fire the waiter that doesn't care. Sharif was busy watching Channel 12 news and checking out his cell phone.
I will never go back and do NOT recommend the...
Read moreAndres Diner has been part of my life since I was a teenager, before they remodeled and put in the jazzy neon & AWESOME dessert display. Now it has the retro feel of the real 50's diner that it ALWAYS was. Cozy booths, SUPER friendly staff ANYTHING you could IMAGINE to eat menu... but I miss the tableside. 25 cent jukeboxes that were there when I was growing up coming in after the bars closed, the party continued at Andros Diner! Now, if mom & I don't feel like cooking for Valentine's day or Mother's day, I'll treat the old girl like the queen that she is & bring her out for a fresh, hot, home-cooked meal. We get welcomed with a smile & leave with a doggy-bag, because of the generous portions. There's ALWAYS a nice crowd after church too, we see familiar families, dads watching the games, while moms tend to the tots in the high chairs. Andros is a great place to grab an authentic Gyro or a safe place to meet the love of your life. Let them know & they'll push tables together for you for a party! I have seen it all over the years!!! I miss the grill being in the front & the waitress with the beehive hair would yell out: "Tuuurk, give me a short stack & a pair over easy. A chzburger on a honeymoon AND 2 black whites..." Translation: Turk, please prepare 2 pancakes & 2 eggs over easy, a cheeseburger, lettuce alone AND 2 half chocolate half vanilla shakes, THANKS! The food is STILL just as good... Easy to get to, affordable, family owned, family fun... As you see: I ♡...
