I really love this store and will continue to shop but my recent experience dropping off items and having an item go missing was quite disappointing.
I recommend that anyone who drops off items to always document what was in your bag. Count items with staff before handing over and double check before leaving.
I have a very minimal wardrobe and organized closet. I took a bag of items and dropped them off for review. I returned later that evening and sold one item which was great. I bought a few things, got my bag and went home.
While unpacking my bag, I noticed an item was not there. I checked my closet and could not find it. I called back immediately and let them know. She said they would make a note and look into it.
A few days later I called back again to inquire and was told they didnât have any sign of my item. I had looked high and low at home and they were not here either.
On the third and final call I was told they reviewed the security footage and saw all items were placed back in my bag. I was happy they made this effort.
To this day my item is still missing. I have no idea how they were misplaced. Mistakes can happen. That said I will not be selling any items here and recommend that anyone who does to always document what was in your bag. Count items with staff before handing over and double check before leaving.
A lost item may not be a big deal to most. However when you are scrapping by and donât have many options to begin with, it is.
I hope this candid review helps others find better ways to be proactive. Itâs good to trust others but sometimes I forget to...
Read moreVery disappointed today. After recent concerns that my donations to local charities werenât making it to those who needed it, I decided to try selling some of them to this store instead. I donât buy cheap clothes, so I expected to get at least some small amount of money for the thousands of dollars of clothes I took there today. After a half hour, I was told that they were going to decline ALL of my clothes because some showed wear and others were an off-brand. The brands I took included: Logo, Susan Graver, Lands End, Banana Republic, Cato Fashions (Southern chain), and several items from Macyâs and JCPenneyâs to name a few. This store advertises they take gently used clothes. Some of the clothes I brought still had their price tags on them and they wouldnât take those either. So tell me, just what do you take then? I find it ironic that when I walk through and look at the racks full of clothes and compare them to what I brought, mine are in much better shape. Needless to say, I wonât be going back.    Read more80% of the clothes in my closet are from Clothes Mentor. When I go to the Twin Cities, I hit them all. If you're looking for the cheapest consignment store, this isn't your place. But I LOVE the selection and love the brands you can get here. My advice is to know your brands. I rarely buy anything that I could get on sale at Herbergers for less. But the selection of shoes is fantastic , designer handbags are great and if you like Colwater Creek, Eddie Bauer, NYDJ and Chicos - you'll be thrilled with what you find here.
Selling? That's a different matter. They are extremely picky and I like that because when I'm shopping, I know that I don't have to look for missing buttons or hidden flaws. I just wish they'd be truthful. They say that they don't take anything more than two year old. That is definitely NOT true. And they say that the price they offer you (to buy it) is half of their selling price. Hmmmm .... not so much. ...
