great people, questionable experience
recently got my helix piercing downsized here as it was more convient to my location than going to my usual spot, honestly i am thoroughly disappointed with my experience. i had gone here because i trusted them with this service, as in the past i had gotten my doubles done and downsized at this establishment in 2024.
the piercer i had was extremely nice...but i left in terrible pain and im honestly really disappointed. she first started by cleaning my piercing and guessing what we needed to downsize, honestly this part was not the problem. it was when she began to attempt to get my jewelry out of my ear (threadless post with a tiny ball) with just her hands (THEY WERE GLOVED WHICH IS GOOD). i have had a few other piercings downsized in my past, and for such a tricky location on my ear, i was honestly shocked that she did not use a tool to assist in this process. i felt awkward and felt like i could not speak up that i was uncomfortable with this (mostly because i trust piercers especially a place with an APP certified piercer to do the best for my piercings), but also in the moment it honestly did not hurt to a degree that bothered me, just a slight pinch.
in the back of my mind while this all went down, i knew my piercing was going to be hella irrated. it took what felt like forever to remove the piercing, and i honestly dont even remember if she ended up grabbing the tool or not to remove the piercing after a bit of tugging on it. i left and she gave me some aftercare instructions to help with the swelling. follow the aftercare, clean the piercing, im not new to this. well flash forward to this morning and i woke up with excruciating pain, like pain that hurt worse than any of my other piercings ive ever experienced. my verticle helix, which did not even hurt this bad when i got it pierced, is now inflamed and swollen. hot to the touch, and it feels like my ear is about to burst. honestly im so disappointed because i have NEVER EVER had this experience with a helix downsize, and it just kind of appalled me the way the service went :/
i hope if midgard piercing reads this review they do not take this as an angry rant but mostly a plea for an improvement of their downsize service. i used to trust them with my piercings but after my experience yesterday i will not be...
Read more*Edited in response to owner: The problem was not the ownership at the time, it’s that the person that recommended me the wrong artist for the job now owns the studio. Tom knowingly set me with an artist with a different style when there were other artists he could have placed me with. Since it was not done as a walk in, but as an appointment, it should’ve been recommended to the best fineline artist at the studio. It is completely unacceptable that a permanent body modification of this quality is acceptable with no accountability.
New shop ownership has made the quality and comfort of the shop come down significantly. I was overcharged for a piece that was nothing like the references I showed. When I came in for a same day walk in and showed Tom (the new owner) several references of fine line work, he booked me with a traditional, heavy line artist named Cassie. The tattoo was not even done the same day, and when I returned days later, Cassie had three very basic, undetailed dragon outlines done. She proceded to free hand what was supposed to be smoke around the dragons. Even while doing the piece, Cassie joked that the smoke looked like DNA strands, which they did. I'm not sure if she has never done smoke tattoos before or if this was lazy-ness. She also worked on another artist's work that I never asked her to. I had also sent a $100 deposit prior to, which I forgot about, but when I sent her the full payment after the tattoo, I'm assuming she took it as a large tip and said nothing else besides thank you good bye. Uncomfortable and unsatisfactory experience that I'm now having to get covered by my original artist. Midgard used to be a safe space, but the artists present at this time made the environment feel too uncomfortable to speak out. Attached is one of the many references of fine line work I showed Tom, who is now the owner, when I came in for a walk in; yet still got placed with an artist of...
Read moreMe and a friend wanted to get our tattoos done here because they were highly rated and saw a ton of recommendations. We walked in on a Wednesday night to see if we could get them done, both small tattoos. They told us no one was available for walk ins, which is fine I understand covid has impacted a lot of things and they may not get many walk ins. I was given the Instagram of one of the artists by the lady at the front and told me to message him and get scheduled. I messaged him the next day, got a response asking what we would like done, I told him then it was read and no response. I get they’re small and simple tattoos and if you don’t want to do them then say you’re unavailable, but to straight out not respond is really unprofessional, especially when I was given your specific Instagram. My dad passed away recently and wanted a simple tattoo to remember him by. Maybe he forgot or something came up, but I feel like I was brushed off simply due to...
