I jumped at a new place for an old fashioned. I found Lone Light Spirts from a government post of the opening on social media. I joined the Spirit â33 Club before opening. I should have waited because my experience today was not one that I would want to return to.
The best part: I was greeted by a woman working with reddish copper hair that made me feel welcomed. I sat at the bar and they were busy. No worries. When the bartenders where done making drinks I still was not acknowledged. They were folding towels and washing glassware. The same young lady working the tables asked if I was helped. I wasnât.
The guy that helped me was polite. I ordered a flight. I asked about the age of the bourbon. Nobody really knew but at some point at bartender said it had to be at least 3.5 years. Iâm not really confident on that because I drink a 2 year aged that is really good from another local spot. I ordered a fireside old fashioned. I was turned off by the bartender picking up the marshmallow with his hands to put on the skewer versus using the skewer to pick it up. This was after watching another bartender run his hands thru his hair multiple times. Maybe I have high expectations on this type of thing. Drink was okay. Maybe it would have been great with the torched marshmallow that I opted out of.
I cashed out. The discount wasnât applied and retroactive when I asked. I am disappointed. I will be back because I paid for the Spirit â33 club membership. Maybe it will be better after opening. Iâll try again in a few months and buy some bottles for my home bar. I highly recommend visit first before signing up. That way you can make an informed decision on membership. Wishing nothing but the best for the owner, but my experience was subpar even...
Read moreOne star for effort. Opening a bar in Farmington is very daunting. We are a sleepy, conservative community. There is little interest in quality experience in our community, so if a proprietor makes an effort, I try to be supportive and I am respectful of the challenge that he/she has accepted. Still, there are some impressions that I had after one visit that may be helpful to potential patrons. One review compared this to Candy Bar in Detroit. They are at 180° of the that end of the spectrum. The servers were making an effort but really fell short of creating an inviting atmosphere and providing attentive service. The decor and ambience would remind one of a basement bar that someone had slapped together in their home without much thought. The lighting is bright white- like an operating room. There is no warmth. My comments bear consideration-I've lived in Farmington all of my life and am anxious to see a vitalization of the downtown area. I may not be the demographic that this establishment seeks but if success isn't eminent perhaps the above...
