I was sitting at a nearby brewery when I noticed a familiar pain in my lower torso. I was hungry. So, I asked the staff if they had food. No. But, they had menus from nearby restaurants. The first one I grabbed was for La Pecora Nera. I am so glad I did. I haven't had a great muffuletta since New Orleans, pre-Katrina. Been a minute. Here. I can confidently state: The Muffuletta rocks! The fact that I walked in 5 minutes before closing made no difference to the staff. I was out of there 4 minutes later with a huge, delicious, messy, warm, wonderful muffuletta. Arguably, for me, outside of an authentic Cuban sandwich, there is nothing humankind has made to go between two pieces of bread that is better than an authentic muffuletta. It is a truly magnificent construction and the ones they make here belong in the pantheon of the greats. I am not worthy, but I am exceedingly thankful. It's 45 minutes from home on a good day but, I. Will. Be. Back.

I really wanted to give this place five stars. The shop itself is clean, the branding is on point, the staff is super friendly, service is fairly quick, and the location is convenient. The sandwich size is generous, and the bread was fresh and tasty. I’m a Reuben person, and I really wanted to love their version. The idea of serving it on focaccia is unique and could have been great, but it fell short for me. The cabbage salad on top was too watery, which made the bread soggy, though not completely inedible. The real letdown was the lack of corned beef 😭 for a Reuben, that’s the star of the show, and it just wasn’t there in a meaningful way. I appreciate the concept and the friendliness of the team, but the execution on the Reuben didn’t hit the mark for me.

I recently stopped by La Pecora Nera for lunch after hearing rave reviews about their delicious sandwiches. When I walked in, a very cutec and charming lady at the counter greeted me. Due to my soft voice, there may have been a mix-up when I ordered the #3, the Italiano with extra ham. Instead, I received what seemed to be the #2, a turkey sandwich with extra ham and plenty of delicious bacon on top. Initially surprised by the mix-up, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did—the sandwich was amazing! The bread, brushed with olive oil and herbs, elevated the sandwich to another level. Despite the initial confusion, the experience turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I will definitely return to try more sandwiches

In the past I would have given La Pecora 5 stars and raving reviews, but it seems they have changed this year. One of the biggest reasons I enjoyed it so much is because of the delicious gluten free bread they used to offer. I am 99% sure it was from a local gluten free bakery because it was the best gluten free sub bun/bread I have ever had at a restaurant. For this reason we would go a lot, because as someone who cannot eat gluten, it was great!

However, this all changed last time we came here a few weeks ago. It had been a month or two since we last went so I suggested it to my husband. We both got our regular order (Napa valley club) but we were both very disappointed. My gluten free version of the sandwich did not have the delicious bread I was used to, it had store bought, very dry, very bland, and for some reason sweet bread. I should have known something changed when I ordered it toasted and they said the bread would “fall apart” and could not be toasted. They always toasted it with the other bread so that was a red flag. They charge $3 for this bread, and I was more than happy to pay $3 when it was the quality GF bread, but this was so bad I couldn’t even eat half my sandwich. Keep in mind the total for my sandwich alone was around $20 since I have to order gluten free, and it was just not good at all. The second issue with our order was that my husband’s sandwich (also Napa club but with normal bread) literally looked like it had been punched. We were both so confused, it looked like someone had thrown it against the wall. He still ate part of it but the fact it was not wrapped like it normally was was definitely off putting.

We used to love this place, but please bring back the good gluten free bread. It’s not cool to charge $3 a sandwich for dry and flavorless store bought bread. The standard has dropped a lot in our opinion and we will not be back as I don’t know if they will change their GF bread situation. The people here are kind but I just wanted to warn those looking to get a decent gluten free sandwich, do not waste your money. You will be...

Well, I just moved back to Detroit from Arizona and I’ve had food all over the place. I mean all throughout the United States and my favorite sandwich or lunch is a good Italian grinder and let me just tell you so I ordered blindly on DoorDash because the menu look good and was interesting and when I receive my sandwich, I had to take pictures of it. It was so beautiful. I mean it looked perfect. I got it on a ciabatta bread instead of the traditional roll and it was amazing. The best sandwich I’ve ever had my favorite meal and it was the best grinder I’ve ever had, and I’ll tell you why Several things one everything’s fresh and the salami they put on. It was insanely good. Very good meat. I got fresh mozzarella on there and that helped considerably make the taste just like a party in my mouth as well. The lettuce they put on there. The shredded lettuce is perfect. You couldn’t pick a better lettuce and and the bread was outstanding. the oil and vinegar Italian dressing. They put on there. It was amazing. I just can’t wait to go back again. I’m almost tempted to have a two days in a row, but I don’t wanna burn...

This place makes some of the best sandwiches around!!! Best ingredients, best bread, best combinations. The food is fantastic. And the sandwiches are huge.

The only thing that stopped me from giving them five stars is the wait when I go in. I've had a few pickups where I've had to wait a very long time- the most recent was ridiculous. I called and placed an order for pickup that i was told would be ready in 25-30 minutes. I waited the 25 minutes to go to the store for pickup (knowing it gets busy), then waited another 30 in the store before it was ready. I had checked in, paid, (and left a tip) and watched everyone else behind me walk out with their food from orders that they placed inside that were not call ahead orders. No apology, no sorry, no nothing from the staff.

I love the food but they really need to organize a bit better. Keep in mind, the food is great but be prepared to wait. And maybe hold off on tipping before you...
