I hope the man himself (Matt Knio) reads this. My husband and I have been patronizing Cannelle since 2016. When Instagram was still in diapers. The flagship location in Birmingham is the closest to our home. We were thrilled and happy for our favorite patisserie to spread to Detroit when we stumbled upon their branch late 2019. Time and again, we've received good service by the HUMBLE staff in both Birmingham and Detroit locations. It's ONLY BEEN A MINUTE since the branch in Farmington opened up. I was excited today to introduce my friend to their goods. There was no seating inside. Plenty of tables outside. I requested the guy who worked there this evening if they could bring a table inside for us. He said he has to ask his manager. She is the most arrogant and rude manager of an eatery I've come across. She shot down the idea even before he finished his question. She didn't even look in my direction although she was literally an arm's length away. Her body language screamed contempt for us. Good luck getting more customers with thst attitude! You wanna learn humility, girl? Hope over to Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters in Rochester and learn from the owners. Mr Hammoud offered to help pull up our twins' stroller as we walked into his packed cafe on a Sunday afternoon. He didn't need our business. But their humility is what got them there. And, look at you! Dear Matt, having staff like her is probably going to be the demise of...
Read moreWe as a family used to frequent this pastry shop. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They open early, pastry is fresh and coffee is great! However, there have been 3 times when we picked up pastries to bring home only to find that they taste like the perfume at the shop...The perfume is so overpowering that the crossaint did not taste buttery/choclatey anymore. Sadly we had to throw these otherwise nice and flakey pastries away. Has anyone else experienced this too? I finally called the shop to express my concerns after this happened the third time. I wanted to know whether they spray anything near the pastry since its the same fragrance you can smell at the shop. The person who answered the phone took down my number, apologized and informed to call back after speaking with the chef. Unfortunately they never got back to me. I am not sure how often we will go back there because we are fearful to bite into those fragrance infused pastries again. Chef Knio, please do something to address this issue! We would love to become loyal customers to...
Read moreWhen I stepped inside, I felt like I was in a French cafe; the atmosphere was simple yet authentic, with French music playing in the background and the sweet smell of baked goods in the air, and it was very clean.
This was my first visit, so I ordered something simple: a cinnamon roll croissant with a caramel latte. Service was quick, and the staff was friendly and patient as I decided what to order. They also informed that paying in cash is slightly less expensive than charging to a card. I dined in because there was only one occupied table inside. Although they do have dining options inside or outside the cafe, they don't have a lot of tables, so I recommend coming early before they all fill up.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Even as more customers came in, I was able to enjoy my food and read in relative peace. I can't wait to go back and try one of the many delectable pastries they put on display....
