DO NOT GO HERE!!! We dropped my son’s car off around 9 am on Saturday August 11th. The Check Engine light had come on and we wanted a diagnostic. I called later that day to check on it. The man who answered the phone told me that the mechanic had said it was some kind of sensor and that it would be around $600 to repair BUT he was going to have him call me back. When the mechanic returned the call, he said 2 codes came up, that it could be multiple things and I would be charged $300 to look into it. I agreed because we needed to know what was wrong with it. He said he would call me Monday afternoon with what he found.
No call on Monday so I stopped by there on my way home from work. He basically told me that all the timing solenoids were good (this is important later), the timing belt was loose, bad reluctor rings and that it needed “a kit”. He also went on to tell me how he was GM Certified. I asked what codes came up and he offered to print them out for me. This took him about 15 minutes…it was as if he was “looking” or researching what to give me that matched what he had told me. He then told me “worse case scenario would be about $2000” but he also wanted to make sure he wasn’t overlooking anything and he would call me the next day. I left there feeling very uneasy about the whole story.
No call on Tuesday or Wednesday….so I called. He said he had been waiting on me to call him back to tell him whether or not I wanted it repaired. This is NOT what he had told me on Monday. The “estimate” also went up from “worse case scenario $2000” to “its what I told you on Monday…$2000 to $2500…maybe more”. I was never told or given a written estimate for repairs that showed what parts were needed and the labor costs. NOTHING. Most estimates give you that info.
I was livid at this point because it went from $600 to $2500…maybe more. I told him to put the car back together and we would come get it. I was charged a little over $300 for them to tell me nothing!
I took it to someone else and low and behold, the problem was a bad timing sensor and that was IT. No loose timing chain. No “kit” needed. PLUS this mechanic had to plug in the Mass Air Flow Sensor that these guys failed to reconnect. Total Cost for these repairs including parts/labor were $203. That is a BIG difference from $2500…maybe more.
I am a single mother who is out an extra $300 to this place. I did not get the service that I deserved. They never gave me a proper estimate and the vague things he did say needed replaced…DID NOT. Thank God for my bad gut feeling that day. I will not recommend this business to anyone and I will be contacting the Corporate Office and reporting the to the Better...
Read moreExpress Oil Change is our family's favorite place for all types of vehicle maintenance. The staff is friendly and makes you feel valued. Mike takes his time to listen to your concerns and is knowledgeable when offering solutions and advice. A few months ago I was having trouble with my car battery and my car was slow to start. I recently had to have my battery jump-started so I took my car to Express Oil Change not knowing if they could change my battery. Much to my surprise and excitement Jason tested my battery confirmed it was bad, and got me a new one in under 15 minutes! Wow! I have replaced my battery before but my new vehicle had too many wires, and it was difficult to reach. I am so grateful for his quick, efficient, and excellent service! This store even recycled my old battery for just $1. In the past, an exchange was needed and walking in and out of stores with batteries was a burden and time-consuming. This store made the process effortless and the cost of the new one was comparable to other battery stores. I will never go anywhere else for this service! Months later my car battery still works great! No issues.
Today, I visited Express for my routine oil change. Josh was so kind and efficient at checking all my vehicle's fluid levels and changing my oil. Josh even put in a new headlight bulb that I knew was out but didn't get around to replacing. It was rainy and foggy today, so it was necessary to get the bulb replaced ASAP. I'm so thankful for Josh today!
While I was getting my oil changed, I asked them about my cabin air filter, the cost, and how often it needed to be replaced. Jason was very knowledgeable and even offered to check it and it needed to be replaced! These cabin filters are usually very difficult to replace because they are behind the glove box with a couple of plastic panels to remove and with lots of screws. I don't think it was ever changed. See the scary dirty cabin filter picture My family is already breathing a lot better now that there is a brand-new cabin filter! Thank you, Jason! 🙌

Update: I thought this was a great place to get my oil changed. I had no idea that they also did repairs, until I spoke with the service manager Mike. He was so friendly and made me feel so comfortable. I have dealt with many mechanic shops and they've always made me feel like I'm a woman that has no idea what I'm talking about. After talking to him I knew that if I ever had mechanical issues with my car I was going to bring it to them. Unfortunately my car left me stranded on the interstate a few days ago. I decided to have my car towed to express oil and lube. This was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I received a call from the mechanic Suede after they had diagnosed the issue. He gave me a quote and explained they had to wait a days to get the part in. I was told my car would be done today. I received a call from Suede apologizing and explaining that after they replaced the fuel pump apparently when the fuel pump went down it broke a sensor. Which they were again going to have to wait for the part to come in. He then told me the good news. They decided that they were going to honor the quote and order and install the new sensor at no additional charge. I can't believe it! A repair shop that stands behind their word! I have never had this happen. I was in the automotive industry for 15 years. I dealt with tons of different shops and I've never seen this before! They aren't even aware of my situation. I am a widow living on a very fixed income. I haven't slept since my car broke down because I've been trying to figure out how to pay for all of this. Since I lost my husband I truly have had no help. I have been taken advantage of more times than I can count. I don't even know what to say or how I could possibly thank them. Suede and Mike you have showed me that there are good people out there. You have a customer for life! I wish I could give you...
