Hubby and I have been waiting for this day! I have been to Another Broken Egg in Fairhope (where I moved from) and Pensacola (Gregory Street). Both were phenomenal!

When I found out that they bought the old Village Inn, I was elated!

Ronnie, the GM, invited us to their "soft opening" on Saturday, April 1st. (They opened officially on April 3rd.)

Julian greeted us with his beaming smile and fantastic energy! We took in the place as he opened the doors. Everything shiny and new. Fresh paint, untouched salt, and pepper shakers. The unopened bottles stacked high on shelves behind the bar. The sun poured in through the large picture windows that surrounded the restaurant. Carol, our server, welcomed us to our table by the window near the outdoor area (tables and chairs to come later). Carol and her hubby moved here from Nebraska. He's in the military (school I think).

So........ I started with their Single-Origin Rwanda Muhondo coffee with heavy cream. Carol took care of me there. Hubby had hot chocolate. I stole a spoonful of his whipped cream. That's right! Had to. Off to a great start!

For breakfast I ordered 3 eggs over medium with cheese, green chilies and sautéed onions. (Keto) - Eggs were perfection! And huge!

Hubby indulged a little this time. He ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast topped with whipped cream and fresh berries. Also came with a hefty serving of fluffy scrambled eggs and crispy, oven baked bacon. He gave me a slice...oh my word! Yum!!

Hubby said THIS is his new favorite!! It looked like dessert to me. Who doesn't love dessert?

The place was buzzing with people. Loved the excitement on all of the young faces. Their fearless leader, Ronnie checked in on us. We reported...crew is doing great. Food is delicious!

We also met Alice. She just moved from Atlanta, Georgia. She was a delight to chat with. Great sense of humor.

We were honored to be Carol's first customers! She did a fantastic job. Definitely going to be our new favorite place!

Oh! Almost forgot. Our meals were free! Instead of paying for our meal, they asked that we consider making a donation to The Volunteers of America. A Florida based company. And tip our waiter, of course.

UPDATE: Revisited 9/17/23 Sunday afternoon. Our server Geneici, was sweet as could be. She recommended your new Tiramisu French...

The only bright spot of our visit was our server, Julian. We joined waitlist and were given a wait time of 25-35 minutes. We ended up waiting an hour. We ordered and got out food with no issues until we realized the sandwich we had had a hair in it. Julian apologized and took the sandwich away and fixed it right away. I ordered a second coffee and the bar apparently never made it so I asked Julian to just take it off and not bring it. At that point we had been there nearly two hours and just wanted to leave. We got our bill and we were charged for the coffee we never received and the sandwich we sent back. We asked Julian to fix the bill and he said he needed to find a manager to fix it. Fine, no issue there. We watched as he walked around trying to find a manager and then the manager just walked away from him, so we waited about 20 minutes just to get our bill. During this, the bartender yelled across the bar to ask me a question about the coffee I ordered and said I didn’t want anymore. I ended up getting the coffee but we were still charged for it even thought I told them twice that I did not want it anymore. Eventually one of the hostesses came over and asked if we were okay and I had to ask her if we could please just get our bill so we could leave. Everyone aside from the manager was super nice and appeared to be doing their best. The place just seemed unorganized. Julian was amazing though and was so, so sweet to us. If the whole experience wasn’t so terrible, we’d go back again just...

Outstanding Service That Made Our Dining Experience Exceptional!

I recently dined at Another Broken Egg and I must say that our server, Krysiana, truly elevated the entire experience. From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with a warm and genuine smile, instantly making us feel welcome.

What stood out most was Krysiana’s attentiveness without being intrusive. Throughout the meal, she checked in at just the right moments—refilling drinks before we even had to ask, making thoughtful recommendations, and ensuring every part of our meal was perfect. She had an incredible knowledge of the menu, describing dishes in such detail that it made our choices much easier.

One of the highlights of the evening was she recommended City Grits and they were AMAZING. I wish I would've taken a picture but TRUST ME! They were amazing. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to ensuring every guest has a wonderful time.

Beyond the exceptional service, Krysiana brought an energy and warmth that made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. The level of professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency was truly remarkable.

If you ever dine at Another Broken Egg, I highly recommend requesting Krysiana—you won’t be disappointed. It’s clear that she takes great pride in what she does, and it made all the difference in our dining experience. We’ll definitely be coming back, and a big part of that is because of the amazing service we received.

Five stars...

I was very disappointed with the new 9 Mile Road location. I had expectations of the downtown location. A friend and I visited on Good Friday. Yes we knew it would be a wait getting seated, that was not a problem. We checked in at 10:24. After we were seated the issues started. First of all, we never received any silverware. Our waitress took our drink orders, and it was a little while before they were served. We ordered food. Then we waited and waited and waited. Asked what the problem was as to why things were taking so long. We received our meals after 1 p.m. They arrived to the table cold and wrong. We sent the plates back at 1:10. The manager was aware of this and walked by our table numerous times without stopping at our table to acknowledge anything. We finally waved him over to our table. He really had nothing to say and was stuttering. We were not looking for excuses or apologies, just acknowledge the fact that we were there.....waiting for hours. Our re-cooked meals arrived at 2:20. This was the worst experience with this establishment. Why not leave you say.....well we had already waited so long why go somewhere else and wait long just to be seated. And when cooked right, the food is phenomenal. The downtown location needs to render some assistance.

Look this is going to be a long one, but its impairitiv you read because with eveything going up in price, service is going down. And i doubt they will respond back. Not very impressed with the 9mile location. Although pleasing to the eyes. Service and food was not up to par and not even close to the other locations like downtown, Destin, Fairhope or New Orleans. Getting a table didnt take long. Took our server 20 min. to come get drinks. Took another 15 to get my cold brew. Thank god its was a cold. Also was given a juice box with no straw and Waiter was like " Look no straw on this one.* and left i had to get another waitress after 10 mins. to get another one. Staff was kinda in their own world. There were alot of managers there today. i counted 5 but even then they couldn't get things to run smoothly. None them checked on tables( that i could see from the hour and a half i was there). Food was ok. Beignets were good and were to get refills twice. What was disappointing was my girl has never been and i talked it up for along time because i never had a problem. I understand its a new location, but the staff and food needs work.
