World Vision Warehouse — Local services in Fife

Normally, this is a fun and uplifting place to come. My experience, and an experience of a colleague last Friday were anything but fun! I was greeted well enough, but I had my husband with me to help me pack and reach/lift things I could not due to limited mobility. He was rudely told to go wait outside or go to the car. WHAT???? I get that it gets crowded in there at times, but really???? When did that rule change and why did we not get the memo of the rule change? The "greeter" told me that she was VERY frustrated that people like me were not following the rules. Ok-then tell your communications people they need to communicate, not take it out on me. For my colleague, the only person of color in the entire place, the experience was even worse! She had packed up her car and was asking a question when one of the male workers came over and began to very publicly and loudly berate her for being there too long! No one has EVER said there was a time limit, and if there is one, one of the volunteers had taken up most of her time talking with her! To add to the insult, several other "shoppers" had been in there before we got there and were STILL there "shopping" after our goods were loaded into our cars. If my students did not need these things so badly, I would not go again after this experience. It was...

I went here for the first time earlier this school year as part of their yearly (or twice-yearly??) free supplies for teachers. I'm not sure who funds this program but thank you!!! I got the maximum amount of all the allotted supplies and gave away the supplies I didn't need for my own classroom. There were so many cool things in the unallotted area like solar lights, simple rugs, huge potted plants, craft supplies, office chairs, even couches. My favorite take of that day was a big potted plant which is now in my living room in a giant $40 pot from Ross (AWESOME for pots, by the way.) My school's "prize store" and the kids loved the Yoobi supply/pencil pouches with erasers, sharpeners, cute pencils, mini glue sticks, etc. I'll be sure to go as many years as I can!
