City Lights Cinemas is the best thing that has happened to Florence, Oregon. The theater is well decorated with classic photos of actors and actresses throughout film history. In the lobby are small tables/chairs to sit and eat; there are comfy chairs and a sofa in a nook in the lobby. Each of the four theater screen rooms is named after a famous person in movie history. There is the latest digital equipment and sound. This is a very clean and inviting atmosphere.
The membership perks being offered are very affordable and encourage patrons like me to see movies often, with a discount for seniors and children. The movie offerings run the spectrum of first run films coming out each week as well as documentaries, operas, ballet, and my favorites... Shakespeare performances from the Royal Shakespearean Theater in London.
City Lights staff have a website that is well organized and easy to access movie times, dates, and reviews of every performance. The owner writes a column each week discussing what is happening at the theater and what new and exciting films he is investigating! A local private traveling food wagon business is now stopping outside the theater several days a week so patrons can buy a meal and even take it inside the theater to eat. There is wine service and entertainment events, too.
I would recommend City Lights Cinemas to any community member and those who are visiting our little city overnight and want a nice spot to relax for an evening's entertainment. Thanks...
Read moreWhen someone says “it’s a small town movie theater” this is what I imagine it to look like. But staff was nice and place was clean.
It’s in an outdoor strip mall so there’s plenty of parking. Appears to be in a safe location. As you walk in the lobby is the size of a large living room.
The ticket window, or more like ticket counter is the same counter the drinks and food are ordered. Nice variety of drinks and the popcorn was fresh.
The girl at the counter was very nice and personable. Showed where all the condiments were and the direction of the theater.
Not sure if my movie was in a big theater or a small one. I saw brand new high profile movie so I’m going to assume they put it in their biggest one. Which was about 100/150 seats maybe? Decent size screen for a small theater, concert floors, and old style seats.
This place had 7 movies to choose from but it didn’t look like it had 7 theater rooms. Maybe they were just in a different wing maybe.
Each row had a long table in front of the seats for you to place your popcorn and drinks, or maybe your feet?
It was only me and another person in the theater so not a whole lot to say about the crowd.
Bathrooms were clean but then again it wasn’t really busy. Overall a nice quiet and enjoyable evening at this small...
Read moreJust moved to Florence from the Bay Area in CA. Our first trip to the movies at City Lights was delightful! We parked right out front and no lines. Unheard of where we came from. The owner helped us with purchasing a membership (Excellent discounts) and tickets. He treated us to a huge box of buttered popcorn and welcomed us to Florence. In the lobby there are cafe tables and chairs, and an area with comfy lounge chairs and sofa. Very inviting. The theater wasn't packed but enough people to feel like you were part of a group experience. To top it off, it was an excellent movie. I had given up on going to the movies in the Bay Area. Too much of a hassle. Sit in traffic to get there, pay to park and then a long walk to the theater, stand in line to get tickets, another long line to get snacks, then packed in the theater like sardines and straining to see over the heads in front of you. Finally, another long trip home sitting in traffic. We will be regulars at...
