On the way up to Loon Lake yesterday, we were looking for a Breakfast spot in Florence. We went to one place & there was a line a mile long, we went up the street to 2 other spots, one was closed down & one had no parking. Well, this must have been divine intervention, because we ended up at Venny's Cafe 101. There were a few folks there already & as soon as we were seated, a bunch more folks came. Once we got our Breakfast, I could see why folks were coming in droves. I ordered the Machaca, it came with flour tortillas, rice & beans. This was the tastiest Breakfast I have had in years! The con salsa & pico was an added treat & the portions were huge! I made burritos out of what I had leftover, which I will eat today. Best Rice & Beans I have had anywhere. My dining partner had Biscuits, Gravy, Eggs & Patty Sausage, which he enjoyed thoroughly. The owners were super sweet, super attentive & absolutely wonderful. When I ordered the Machaca, she asked me if I knew what that was & that it had meat in it. She said a lot of folks think it's only veggies in the eggs. We assured her that I did know what Machaca was & that I was excited to try it. The flavor that was coming through from the Machaca to my tastebuds! Wow, so delicious & I felt like I was eating Breakfast way down South again, like when I was in Junior High & we used to travel across the border every weekend, to go to our favorite Taco stand. I cannot wait to go back to Venny's again. Oh & the coffee (I have to drink decaf) was rich & dreamy good. If Breakfast tasted like this, I can only imagine what Lunch & Dinner tastes like! I will go back to try both, that's...
Read moreI have to echo everyone else’s positive comments - this is a great family restaurant serving both Mexican food and reliable American diner choices. Good prices (we spent about $18/person for dinner, including drinks and dessert.) Large portions, but not overwhelmingly so.
My daughter had a BLT with fries and I was impressed that the “American food” section of the menu was made with the same care as their Mexican specialties. The fries were really good.
My husband had the chicken crema and it was absolutely delicious. My son had the carnitas and while he enjoyed the plate, (the guacamole was really good) I thought the pork was a little dry. Good flavor though.
Mom and I enjoyed our chille rellenos, and my dad loved his taco and enchilada combo. The beans and rice were good, and it all came fresh and hot to the table.
The flan had a wonderful burnt sugar caramel around it, and the churros were amazing. Dad had a dark Dos Equis and it came with a mug rimmed with salt and chili, with a lime.
Very friendly staff. They have large booths or tables available. Somehow the space is both cozy and spacious.
For little ones, the familiarity of things like grilled cheese, or breakfast foods are available.
I suspect breakfast here is really good - their Mexican breakfasts all looked delicious.
We will definitely come back. Everyone from grandparents to teens left satisfied and happy...
Read moreI had to travel to Florence to see my uncle and aunt who recently moved back there from Los Angeles. I live in Eugene. I wanted to take them out to lunch and so I got on Google to see what was new or interesting. After looking at several reviews, I stumbled upon this place online. I noticed that they did not have a website, but the other comments from reviewers caught my eye and the high rating. I decided to take a chance. I was not disappointed in the slightest. The restaurant is small but very clean. The tables are socially distanced and the service is excellent. First of all, when we sat down at our table, the waitress brought up chips, salsa, and a bean dip, along with glasses of water. The chips were very fresh, the salsa was a bit spicy but really delicious and the beans were to die for. We ordered the Carne Asada plates. When the food arrived, the aroma of the fresh cooked steak was very pleasing. The meat was very tender. It came with rice, beans, a grilled onion, a roasted jalapeno pepper and guacamole, corn tortillas...and of course, more salsa. The plate was huge and neither of us could finish the whole thing. I took home the leftovers and reheated them as a light dinner later that evening. The bill for two lunches with two coffees was $30. Such a deal! I will definitely come back here again to try the other dishes.
UPDATE: Below are pictures of the new menu as...
