A Hidden Gem on the Oregon Coast!

We’re currently on a road trip down the Oregon coast and stopped in Florence, Oregon for the night. Based on strong reviews, we decided to take a chance on Ichiban Restaurant and Lounge, and I’m so glad we did!

The service was absolutely top-notch. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and took time to walk us through the menu. She recommended her house special (pictured here), and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The flavors were rich, fresh, and truly authentic.

Having lived in Asia for six years — primarily in Seoul, Korea, and traveling throughout the region — I can confidently say this is the real deal. The food here is truly authentic Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Every bite reminded me of the meals I had overseas.

Portions are generous (you won’t leave hungry), and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the quality and amount of food served.

This place deserves to be known far and wide. Locals may already be tuned in, but travelers like us need to know that this is the place to stop if you’re passing through Florence. It’s conveniently located just off Highway 101 and well worth your time.

I ordered a veggie tempura roll. It was very good for a great price so I ordered a few more. After receiving fish eggs in my veggie rolls at another restaurant, I now check every single time....and sure enough, tons of little fish eggs scattered through the rolls. It was taken back and the woman who made them apologized profusely, cleaned her work surface very well and re-made the rolls with no fish eggs.

My concern is that this phenomenon has happened twice at two different places and it makes it difficult for vegetarians/vegans to trust the food. On this particular occasion, the woman was interrupted by someone who wanted fish eggs and rice. She stopped in between making my rolls to help the customer and when she got back to it, everything was contaminated with fish eggs which went un-noticed. Work spaces need to be thoroughly cleaned after working with fish eggs because they stick to everything.

The woman was VERY VERY nice and felt bad for the inconvenience, taking the time to make new rolls and ensure everything was good. I would eat here again but due to the experiences I've had, I will always check my veggie rolls for red/orange fish eggs no matter where I order it from. It shouldn't happen...

I actually really dig this place after hours. Not much more to do in Florence, but I thought this place was exceptional. I been here in Florence for about 6 yrs. Very nice and cool place. Everybody is pretty much nice here.

Okay, so I got kicked out one night for getting into a fight. Look, I was trying to actually calm a situation but apparently, someone else took offense to that because they then came me t me for another brawl. I dunno. Perhaps I should have left at that time. I'm from East side San Jose. You do that, and your forever branded a coward. I accepted and it turned out to be just another bar fight. I was wrong and I admit it. Just seemed like I was the only one who got 86'd. Could be wrong there too. I never want to start an altercation, I just didn't like the way the first guy demeaned people just cause he thought he was special. Florence, is a great place. With great people. I have enjoyed living here with such honorable veterans and down to earth good folks. Before I leave I would be humbled if I had a chance to say goodbye to some of the people that made it fun to be a resident.
