I received a NEW Toshiba Laptop for Christmas. On 12/29/14 I took my "old" HP to Best Buy in Florida City Florida to have all the information transferred to my new laptop as I was already a member of the "GEEK SQUAD". I was told that there would be a charge of $85.00 to do this as it was NOT covered under my "GEEK SQUAD" membership. I agreed as I wanted to use my new Toshiba. A week later I received a call that my new Toshiba was ready, I picked it up , took it home and started to get to know my Toshiba. That was the beginning of the worst nightmare I have ever had . 3 days later I started to get "GREEN SCREEN" videos on FB, UTUBE etc. I took it back to Best Buy/Geek Squad , explained the problem , was told they would keep it for a few days and "TRY TO FIX IT" 3 days later I ,again, picked it up took it home it worked for 1 day and it was back to the GEEK SQUAD. I finally told them I want a new Toshiba as this one is defected, no problem I got another Toshiba . So now the information needs to be transferred from the first Toshiba to the second Toshiba . I was told there would be another $85.00 to do , I advised the GEEK SQUARD tech that this WAS NOT going to happen . That it was not my fault that the Toshiba was defected . Another week later my second Toshiba is ready for pickup, I was advised that the $85.00 was waived as the problem was not my fault. 3 days later the same problem "GREEN VIDEO " screen . Back to Best Buy/Geek Squad , same tech. I advised that I wanted to go back to an HP , I was told that I would have to pay the difference in price, $185.00 later I had a new HP . Now once again information has to be transferred from the second Toshiba to the third computer the new HP . The Geek SQUAD tech AGAIN says it will cost $85.00 to do this , I advised to do it and we would discuss the $85.00 when I picked up the HP. 1 day later my HP is ready , I pick it up and the same tech is VERY cool ,I tell her that I have done a little research on the GREEN SCREEN VIDEOS and have found out that Toshiba has had this same problem since 2010. She did not appear to be shocked ,it appeared that she knew this all along. She then says " I am NOT going to charge you $85.00 this time BUT my manage says if there is ANY problems with the HP you will be charged, after all we DON'T work free ." Work free ...what did I pay $106.00 for the GEEK SQUAD membership for ? It appears that THE GEEK SQUAD is and independent contract service that is offered by Best Buy they ARE not employees of Best Buy . After all this mess I can assure you that I will NOT be going back to Best Buy and I WILL NOT RENEW my membership to the GEEK SQUAD...
