I had always heard glowing reviews about StreetSmart, widely praised as one of Mississippi’s top audio shops, and I trusted their expertise completely when I brought my car to Rick for a subwoofer installation. As a proud new owner of a used but cherished car, I was thrilled at the thought of enhancing it with a high-quality sound system. I had every confidence that Rick’s skill would deliver a clean, professional install. Sadly, that’s not the experience I had, and the disappointment has been truly disheartening. After a frustrating month of back-and-forth, I finally learned that the installation wasn’t done with the care I expected. Instead of using a proper low-level signal with a line output converter for the subwoofer, Rick’s team tapped and combined the speaker outputs to create an artificial subwoofer channel. When I raised concerns about the sound quality, Rick suggested I needed a DSP, leading me to purchase a $400 Hertz S8 DSP—a high-end unit used in premium vehicles. I trusted his advice, hoping it would resolve the issue. However, during setup, I found that the input sensitivity had to be dialed to the absolute minimum due to clipping LEDs, robbing my system of power and clarity. The result was a distorted, muddy sound that fell far short of the quality I’d hoped for. What stung the most was the lack of transparency. For weeks, I received vague answers and felt dismissed, as if my concerns were my fault. It was only through persistent effort that I uncovered the shortcut taken in the installation. This workaround not only compromised my audio system but also forced me to spend more money to fix it. I’m now faced with the added expense and inconvenience of taking my car to another shop to undo the work and restore the system properly with four clean leads into a line output converter and DSP. Despite explaining my needs, I was met with reluctance to correct the issue, leaving me feeling unheard and undervalued as a customer. I’m not an audio expert, but I’m capable of understanding the process, and I trusted StreetSmart to treat me with honesty and respect. Instead, I felt misled and let down by a business I held in such high regard. This car is my pride and joy, and the excitement of upgrading it has turned into frustration and disappointment. I never imagined a shop with StreetSmart’s reputation would leave me in this position, and it’s been one of the most upsetting experiences I’ve had with any business. I hope sharing this helps others avoid the same heartache and encourages StreetSmart to prioritize transparency and customer care...
Read moreBe VERY AWARE of how much they charge for installation. My husband went here and was charged over $600.00 to install $300.00 worth of equipment. We bought a $200.00 radio and $100.00 speakers from them. Total charges were $1,200. This was the first time my husband had a radio installed in our car so he had no idea what to pay other than what they told him. I looked over the receipt when my husband got home and noticed the installation charges totaled $600.00 plus, way more that the cost of the equipment. When I called there to ask why, the employee basically said that because they do the work correctly, even said better than other audio places, they charge more. The employee felt the need to record our conversation and would never let me speak with the owner or manager. I called several times trying to speak with the owner but they would always say he wasn't there. ALSO, my husband got there at 9AM and they weren't done until after 2pm. But then they claimed to have charged an extra fee for what they called "expedited service" all because my husband told them he had to leave by 3pm (BUT HE GOT THERE AT 9AM). They claimed because my husband had to leave by a certain time they had to call in another employee to help so they had to pay this employee. If this is the case then it should not have taken over 5 hours to install. This was just RIDICULOUS and we were definitely taken advantage of. This happened several months ago and has been bothering me ever since so I decided to post a review. Plus one of the speakers they installed is busted and in need of replacing so yea we got screwed. I am also curious if anyone else was charged this amount for installation or if they just chose to do this...
Read moreI have to tell you that the team at Street Smart are totally in it to help the customer. I recently had my truck at the dealership to get something serviced. The dealership would not even quote me a price or attempt to fix the issue. I went into Street Smart and I spoke with Stephen. He listened to what I had to say and then we looked at what my issue was. He made a call and talked through the scenario. He told me that the team would give it a shot. Just so you know. I did call a few other shops in town that told me they wouldn’t attempt to look at it. I had a buddy recommend Street Smart. The day before my appointment I called and added a window tinting service to my order which they worked in for me at the last minute. I brought in my truck and Rick walked me through the window tinting choices and did not pressure me into any certain product. Then we talked about the issue with my sync 3 system they were going to attempt to fix. There were no surprises on what services were being done. After several hours of working on my issue they could not get the sync 3 and antenna to synchronize. Rick called me and asked me what was important to me with my console. I told him and he said great. The issue was I had an updated sync 3 system that came out of a newer Ford that did not sync in my truck. My gps and clock would not work. All of the other features did. Not once did Rick try to sell me on another console. He wanted to know what I wanted to do. It’s all about the customer here!!! By the way my tinted windows look great too!!! I will definitely use the team at Street Smart for any of my...
